Newcomers, please check out: * https://trello.com/mastercoin* https://trello.com/b/6FMStLsg/autonomous-application-infrastructure* https://trello.com/b/uRutPlms/exchange-project* Updated spreadsheet of bountiesNote - this will be a self-moderated thread to combat the trolls and keep it clean. Hi all! Sorry to open yet another Mastercoin thread. FYI, we're talking with theymos about allocating a forum for Mastercoin and other blockchain-based technologies. In the meantime: The purpose of this thread is to announce new positions and bounties as they become available. There is a need for this thread because new positions and bounties are added daily and the main thread is too messy. Everything is organized on Trello, you can find the current bounties there. I remind everyone that on a lost of the tasks you will have to specify how much BTC/MSC the bounty is worth for you, instead of us thinking about the sum for each bounty. If you need extra budget to get something done, let us know. You are expected to be Feature Owners. How to apply?1. For bounties, you can just work on them and let us know once you're done. 2. You can also comment on the Trello card and mention @ripper234 or others to get out attention 3. You can also email info@mastrecoin.org telling us that you're interested in a particular bounty or position. 4. You can invent your own! If you think there's a bounty we need to add or position we need to open, let us know! 5. If you have some idea, but are worried it's not refined enough - feel free to brainstorm with the community. They can help you refine your idea into a bounty or position. Guidelines- Make sure to write open source code, hosted on github.

I would like to use this chance to announce a new position and a new bounty: Security Auditorhttps://trello.com/c/FDNNdZ5H/24-security-auditorWe are looking for someone to become Mastercoin's official security auditor. This person needs to come with the highest credentials possible. He will own the task of auditing the spec, various clients and infrastructure components. He will also be responsible for setting up various bounties for detecting security related bugs. Price Charts website AKA Mastercoinchartshttps://trello.com/c/MmaWrEZu/25-mastercoincharts-price-chartsMastercoin already has some price history, and soon we'll have the distributed exchange and a real price history. This bounty goes to developing this site. Note that the site will need to support multiple currency pairs and other asset types ... you should start with BTC/MSC at first.

New Bounty (which is a bit recursive): https://trello.com/c/KcZ6FfSu/26-spec-for-bountiesLet's decentralize the bounty process (not just for mastercoin bounties ... this is a generalized "wishlist" feature ... you wish for stuff in the real world and attach a bounty).
Anyone can propose a bounty as a message on the blockchain.
Anyone can claim a bounty via another message.
Anyone can vote on a bounty claim via proof-of-stake.

Cool, I didn't realize this. In this case we might merge this bounty into the coding contest.

https://trello.com/c/6xq5yI3u/32-auto-synchronize-our-github-with-all-3rd-party-githubsWe have a lot of github repositories, and are coordinating them under https://github.com/mastercoin-MSC/Most of the repos there are forks. We need to manually do pull requests from other repos to keep them updates. I would like us to write an open source web service that lets anyone grant them credentials got auto-pull from the parent fork. This task will be useful to the wider developer community, not just to Mastercoin. It's fun to be able to do our first? project that will help many many projects that aren't related to Mastercoin.

New Open Positionhttps://trello.com/c/gHCG3m6F/33-hiring-assistantEver since we started hiring someone for the Smart Property position, we received many incoming requests and haven't had time to deal with them properly and promptly.
I think we need to hire someone, who understand Bitcoin and Mastercoin, to organize the hiring process.

A new BizDev opportunity: https://trello.com/c/HbAH7Odu/34-open-source-centralized-exchangeOpen Source Centralized ExchangeThis bounty goes to whoever manages to get a successful Fiat-BTC exchange to open source. Conditions: 1. The exchange must be operational in at least three countries with meaningful volume. 2. The exchange must be completely open source, code wise. The code must have some documentation, and furthermore, processes need to be documented. The exchange is of course allowed to have closed discussions and documentations. However a 3rd party must be able to pick up this code and documentation and successfully implement an exchange on top of it. 3. The exchange must support buying and selling Mastercoin for fiat. The bounty can be split between the exchange itself, and a feature owner that Gets This Done (omsone that can be external to the exchange that will drive this process). Just to clarify, examples of Fiat-BTC exchanges are Mt. Gox, Bitstamp, BitsOfGold and BitInstant. Note - the awarded amount could be something rather substantial.

https://trello.com/c/7O3AYVOm/38-job-project-managerNew position - Project ManagerWe have tons of concurrent projects going on, the number of project is just going to increase ... quickly.
We need someone whose task is to concentrate the status of the various projects. They should engage the community, prioritize projects via bounties, make sure that important projects get sufficient PR and thus attract developers...

I'm excited! We already have one research problem ... the Dark Exchange, and here's another: https://trello.com/c/EAWWSd1n/40-economic-research-why-does-msc-have-valueHow much would be a suitable bounty for this feature? $500?
We need someone with a solid economics background (Peter Surda caliber) to research and explain why MSC has value.
A good feature to investigate is the CFD feature. CFDs and backed currencies "need" MSC to have value, and thus I believe their adoption will _cause_ MSC to have value.
I'll ping Peter Surda again on this.

New $500 bounty! This is in fact an old feature (why, it was proposed almost a week ago!), but we haven't decided on a bounty for it until now. I am authorizing a $500 bounty for a good implementation. We may grow the bounty in the future (or not), but let's see what $500 can buy us. https://trello.com/c/wtFdcTtl/15-build-a-budget-websiteWe are planning to separate the funds stored in 1Exodus between several addresses, and eventually multisig addresses. This will make it harder for us to prove to the world how much funds we have and how we are using them. In light of transparency, I would like us to build a "Budget website" (budget.mastercoin.org) that will always show where all the funds are, with full support for multiple multisig addresses. I would also like this website to let us specify on each expense what it is for. It is basically a replacement for https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCyUJvk_IyNdGpVcnpBN2tOczFmbVRnck5TWjZuRFE&usp=sharingEventually this website will become a core part of Mastercoin and will be used by other companies that will be issuing their assets on top of Mastercoin. The website should be open source of course. If you want to start working on it, please propose a budget, we can then approve it with the board.

Another feature that will let us handle ourselves easier financially, and might develop into a full-fledged micro-lending economy. https://trello.com/c/C3zc82Ob/43-lending-specLending SpecThe Foundation will soon have a lot of "future money" in the form of future payments to the Exodus address from the Dev Mastercoins.
We want to be able to use them right now, and not be constrained by the temporal unavailability of funds.
What is needed is for someone to write a spec for lending ... people will be able to lend us money and gain interest.
E.g. if we have 10,000 MSC to be released over the next 2 year, it should be very risk free to lend 1,000 MSC to the Foundation and get some (low) interest rate on that ... as long as you trust that we won't default on the loan.
Rough idea:
publish_loan_request(address, interest rate, period) - we will publish that we are looking for a loan at a certain rate.
grant_loan_request(loan_id) - someone will agree to our terms. This will move the funds from his address to ours.
pay_back_loan(loan_id, amount) - pays back to the lender (amount can be smaller than the lent amount)
delete_loan_request(loan_id) - delete a standing loan request.

I have questions about where I can find historical pricing for mastercoin (trades per day is easy to do, I can extract that data from the blockchain but historical pricing is trickier.) I could also use a back-and-forth with an established mastercoin developer as to the best method is now/in the future for how/where to go to derive the daily average mastercoin price. I'm assuming the distributed exchange will come into play here quickly. From there, multi-currency support etc is easy...

Awesome! I think some of the devs have started thinking about this, better coordinate with them. The Google Doc contains some historic price charts. You can also comment on the Trello board (send me your email to ron.gross@gmail.com and I'll invite you). The Trello board is to be used as the main point to discuss specific bounties, in order no to clutter this thread.

Updated the "Bounty" spec and added a bounty of $100 for writing it. https://trello.com/c/KcZ6FfSu/2-spec-bountiesI want to emphasize how important the Bounties feature is important.
This will allow us to move from the Foundation's management to "The community's management". Implementing that might take some time, but this is a critical component in our acceleration program / network effect.

New UX/UI bounty: https://trello.com/c/MdyfWYxp/10-mockups-design-for-a-website-listing-all-autonomous-applicationsWe would like someone to create a mockup or design for a website that will concentrate all the AAs currently raising money through the Mastercoin platform. The site will be a focal point for AAs to kickstart/bootstrap their operation. I think we can start with something that can easily showcase 10-20 companies. The next step would be to enhance the website to support 100s of companies.
There are some delicate legal issues here.
On the one hand we are currently using the term AA which we hope is a safer regulatory framework for speaking about these projects.
On the other hand, we need this website to be very welcoming to people who are not familiar with the Mastercoin ecosystem. One analogy for AAs is companies, shareholders, etc. ... which is easier to understand but harder legally.
The UX lead for this feature will need to consolidate this difference. FYI we are preparing a legal Think Tank that will assist wit this. For any issues or questions, please turn to Stas Oskin and David Johnston.
Please see the card for more details / POC.
