As I understand it bitcoin, ether etc are not hackable with the current technology we have. With quantum computing and AI will this change? And are blockchains able to adapt?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Probably there are some critical bugs in the current code of various cryptocurrencies but they still were not discovered. As far as I know, quantum computers might be capable of getting around our all encryption algorithms. This will cause a lot of mess once quantum computers become affordable and more efficient. It is probably matter of years. Tt took a lot of time and effort to create PCs we know today. Let's hope that neither of it will happen anytime soon.
