It is not everyone that have the courage to watch their asset fall far below the cost price. Most people love cutting their loses early enough and move on. What is paramount is understanding the type of investor one is and sticking with his plans... at the long run, buying and selling in a short period or holding for long is a matter of choice that should be tailored to reflect individuals target. As for me, I love longer duration holding but I know many friends who make so much money buying and telling intermittently.

 I really hope that patience will be the key of succes when we talk about cryptos but I am not so sure as I searched some old coins and some of them never had a pump or a rise so depends a lot on what coin you want to keep and have patience with them.
