Is it really that good? You're making me want to go now.

lol no no .. in no way am I recommending the place.

There's just a certain reason I need to find it out.

Lets just go with:

"I lost my wallet" or "I lost my credit card there"

With that said, the customer service was pretty good. I'm a huge advocate of customer service. Feel free to "thread cap" this place with any bar within the penn station area that has ...
1. Good beer OR standard beer with good prices
2. Good food
3. Good customer service ... You know that kinda service where the bartender actually pretends your there and is nice to you.

Can't figure orientation, but scroll down to the directory at http://jasongibbs.com/pennstation/ and see if any of the places ring a bell.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Now i have somebody who can help. He asks when you say "looking at the entrance from Madison square garden" do you mean looking at the penn/msg entrance on 7th and 32nd? Or are you thinking of another location actually within the building? Do you remember if it was in the LIRR area, njt area, or amtrak?

I think the only thing I can help out on with these questions is that it was the amtrak area. I only say this because when I would take a left out of the place and on the right was a amtrak waiting area and then if you continued to go straight (maybe had to hang a slight right after passing the waiting area) is where you could buy amtrak tickets.

Can you give me a Google Streetview link of the entrance you're speaking about?

This was a pretty good idea. I looked and nothing jumped out (it was dark when I left), but if I wold have to guess it was 31st & 8th or 33rd and 8th.

Hmm, I have to ask you, if you were shown their Menu, would you be able to recall what types of items were on their Menu?

You said it was either on 31st & 8th or possibly on 33rd and 8th?

I have a feeling I may have found the spot.

===>  KABOOZ'S BAR & GRILL?

Located right in between 31st & 8th and 33rd & 8th in Penn Station right by Amtrak

http://www.yelp.com/biz/kaboozs-bar-and-grill-new-york

here's some reviews on it and they seem to match with the details you've mentioned like beer at good prices, friendly customer service, right by Amtrak, the category its in is also BAR, SANDWICHES

Reviewers of the place reviewed about "$3.50 beer on tap during happy hour

"Although this is one of the better spots in the Amtrak terminal to grab a drink, to me it has the feel of a Applebee's bar. Happy hour is nice with half priced pints and $5 margarita's and the turkey burger I recently tried was decent."

"Waitress was super nice and friendly. Paid more attention to us early in the evening than later."

"This is a hidden jewel of a bar-and-grill place. I discovered it some years ago when I was coming home late after a tax-season workday, and the staff there took care of me like I was family. "

Any of those ring a bell?

Hope I found it for ya.

If not, theres also a HARRINGTON'S BAR AND GRILL

http://www.yelp.com/biz/harringtons-bar-and-grill-new-york

Reviews on this place: "Lots of tv's. Beers on tap. Offers food. Should be good enough for a 3.

It's a 4 because the bartenders are always friendly. I've learned where they have lived over the years and what sports teams they cheer for. "

KABOOZ'S BAR & GRILL is possible, but I can't really tell with the pictures. No I wouldn't know by the menu. From what I remember I don't even think they had a menu .. just the sandwiches.

Anyway, I'll be up there this weekend I believe. I'll be sure to post the results.
