Hi all,

I cannot reveal the identity of the subject(s) mentioned yet, but this text appeared today on our intranet - sorry markup and links lost:

Quote
Cryptocurrency @ XXXX
From 2014-01-01 on, XXXXXX (with other subsidiaries likely to follow during the year 2014) will offer both its employees as well as freelancers the opportunity to remunerate a part of their income in cryptocurrency.

We will support Bitcoin first, with possibly also supporting Litecoin at some later point.

I won't go into the details of cryptocurrencies here, because there are numerous sites that discuss their benefits, risks and technical background, such as

Bitcoin Wiki
Bitcoin Forum
Charts

This remuneration scheme is - of course - completely optional and I can neither recommend nor discourage you from making use of it. From the managing director perspective all I can say is, that this fiscal process will be fully integrated into XXXXX accounting and compliant with the local tax authorities regulations.

From the private perspective it should suffice to say, that I have of course invested in both Bitcoins and Litecoins and intend doing so further.

A more formal announcement will follow. Independent on whether you plan to make use of this or not, you should at least name a Bitcoin wallet your own in time before Christmas. ;-)

XXXXXXX

Is that something or is that not something?

Which country are you in?
Is there a big advantage to getting paid in BTC to just buying them as and when you choose?

I can image end of the month price spikes!

A friend of mine who works as an environmental engineer has been offered the option to be payed in Bitcoin. He told me it was his companies payroll service that offered it, but I never found out which one it was.

He asked me if he should do it to which I said F*ck Yeah!
