You shouldn't base your investments on the duration of your hodling.  It really depends if you got lucky and purchased at the bottom or at the top during that time.  Those who bought cryptocurrencies in December 2017 are still hodling because they are still at a loss.  It may take a few more months to break even or possibly longer.  Those who have bought in the last couple of month may be in serious profit shortly.

Maybe the holding strategy came from bitcoin because, people who held it for some time while it was on the rise they were able to make a huge amount of profit, although the results may not be similar to what you will get with holding altcoins but you can definitely make some out of them that is if you make the right choice, altcoins are much cheaper which means not only they are accessible for people who can't afford to invest 10k into bitcoin, but also if you have a good cap you can buy a lot of them making profiting from them even better.

Those are not holders,they are just swing/weekly traders i presume,because if they are holders they wont be checkin the market from time to time.Because real holders are going to forget what they have invested in,as you can see the less checking that you do the less stress that you will get when the market has started to fail you are just relaxing because you are a long term investor.

For me holding coin for six or twelve months does not mean the person is a holder, at least i hold coin for a very long time and it always bring profit at the end...

Hodling for 6 or more months could be good because some cryptos have the ability to give its return on investment. There are projects that has a weak foundation that their price dumped so much for 6 months long.

Long hold is gambling because the lack of trust in the cryptoworld; It's a gambling investment in an environment where there is no garantees. I think daily profit is more legitime at the point of keeping supply always in circulation. I won't be in long term investement expect investing in my own project.

Some got more profit buy holding their tokens for 6 to 12 months. But for me, I will sell them if I got gained doubled / tripled or even more of my capital in specific token. Like what I doing now for Ethereum, I'm just waiting to get doubled or tripled my capital before I sell them. So, basically, maybe I will reach 6 - 12 months or more than and maybe before 6 months, I could sell them. Depends on my profit. Will my action do.

Of course there were such cases when after holding a coin in a few months people received profits 2 or 4 times more than what they received earlier, so it really works, you just need to have a lot of patience and everything will turn out, do not think that they You will need it in the near future.

It really depends on the market. But based on my experience, yes. I did get huge my profits for hodling 8months. I used to do day trade but i was advised fees will eat up my profits with day trade. So i tried long and i just let my coin sit there and forget it evwr existed for 8 months, next time i checked, its value rose to my surprise.

Of course they can. Cryptocurrencies can offer best return of investment if you know what are you doing or have luck in buying/trading.

On the flip side you risk losing everything you invested if project you were investing in fails.

I made good profit this way once. I bought litecoin when it was worth $20 and then sold when it was worth $300. That was about 7 months of holding and extremely profitable. Well, it would've been if I spent more money on this investment. It was an experimental one and I bought only 1 litecoin... Anyway, long-term holding is a good and working strategy. I bet those who join the market now will have good profits in less than a year as well, even though the prices generally look up in comparison to what we had, say, at the beginning of 2017.

HOLDERs are commonly buying when the market has crashed,and holding it for months ,minimum would be 6months and below that timeframe would be considered as a short term investments,it is really depends on the project if it has potentials to grow you are going to make a lot of money but when the coin you are holding isnt for long terms you are only wasting your time.

More than less amount of are holding crypto currency for a long time it is not very easy thing to hold for a long time many people withdraw so quickly but if you hold a long years it will definitely gives you a good profit .

No, It was even shorter than you think dude. I made almost 25x from my first initial investment through zilliqa, and that needs only a month to do that. I made 9x on credits nearly a month again.
I try to sell them if I was getting enormous profit the majority of my altcoin for medium investment and no more than three months. I bought more than hundred ether a few weeks ago, and this time it gives me almost 50% return.

Holding your coins at a longer period could at least stretched it's value later rather than selling it right away even for just a 10% increased. I think you need to consider coins that are doing good performance in the crypto market that is worth for the holding. In my case , I had just started buying alts recently and I am still holding it for almost 2 weeks from the time I bought alts and planning to extend further.

it depends on the coins you buy. Before anything else try to make a research on the coins you are going to buy. Study the market and find any reviews and reviews about the coin. Evaluate the team members and its core group if they are trusted. Then join their social media channel like telegram, facebook and twitter to see if there are active members in their community, if all thecertain criteria are met then its time to buy and feel the confidence that it will grow for a period of 6 months or more,not all coins are profitable in a period of 6-months it is just a matter or wise decision and luck.

Yes I do, I ever bought eth when the price was only 12$ and  I sold it when it reached 50$, crypto is booming so we got a lot of good coins for long term investment, and eth is not my only success story with long term, I got profit from etc, dash and of course btc, long term investment is more suitable for me, so I dont need to be frustrated by the every day price changes

in getting profits in the trade depends on the owner. if they are observant and good at seeing price movements at any time then it does not have to wait until 12 months to earn a profit. and remember all altcoins have different values and change at all times. to hold long-term bitcoin is the right place.
