#CodeMail

this could be a good FAQ:

What determines CodeMail's  value?
Hey, thanks.
I assume you mean the monetary value of Stamps?
As opposed to the relative utility of the of the CodeMail platform?
Actually, both are good questions.
Definite candidates for the FAQ.
Thank you.

Why we need censorship-free communication -
Uganda imposes WhatsApp and Facebook tax 'to stop gossip'

CodeMail solves these problems.
Decentralization is key = no single entity can control the network.
Privacy and anonymity with end-to-end encryption (E2EE) = freedom to communicate.

This communication project will be secure, private, anonymous and decentralized, that's the way how telegram app works today, and now it is restricted in Russia, and today, the Russian FBI wants app store and google play market to reject the telegram from the stores and to ban it forever. How do you think, is it possible for your project to have the same problems in future?

Who are your main target users for this kind of application?

Hello,
Thanks for the great questions.
Our target users are anyone who wants to communicate securely and privately, which we believe is everyone.
Individuals want to send a message and know that it arrived without any 3rd party snooping in on their conversation or scanning their data for profiling and ad targeting.
Small to large companies and organizations all need security around their business and are spending massive amounts of money for solutions, many times which are not as secure as they claim to be.

Quote
Because ordinary individuals just need regular mail providers like yahoo or gmail.

We couldn't disagree more.  Smiley
Gmail and Yahoo are simple solutions that are free at first glance. But, the hidden cost is your privacy.
It is well known that these companies monitor and scan your data in order to profile you and target you for ads.
No one really pays attention to the fact that this is happening with their data, but when they finally realize the truth,
they become enraged at what was going on all along - just as with the recent Facebook scandal this year.
And your data is centralized and completely out of your control. Yahoo had millions of accounts hacked in recent years,
exposing people's emails, contacts, attachments, documents, etc. We have also seen that while these companies
offer "privacy" controls, these are mostly fluff and you never can really delete your account or reclaim your data.
Ultimately, they do not deserve our trust. Why not take control of what you own?

Quote
Because this kind of secured communication has very few target groups of users.
Either legal entities that works for the government or illegal groups such as for those who are dealing drugs and other smuggled goods.

Thank you for making another great point, but again, we would have to disagree with you here.
We think government and other legal entities should operate in quite the opposite way and should be communicating with full disclosure and full accountability.
Blockchain makes this possible. Think if our elected officials communicated via blockchain and could then
fully disclose and be held accountable for their words and actions. It would vastly change politics today -
you would not have this huge mess of investigations like there is in the US with hacked servers, stolen/private emails, behind-the-scenes collusion, etc.
And finally, bad people are going to do bad things by whatever means are available to them.
We have heard this argument against Bitcoin and crypto in general,
but financial crime would still occur (and most still does) with cash and banks and credit cards.
We shouldn't stop innovation because a small amount of people may use it for bad things.
That will always be the case, unfortunately, but we all do our best to create and innovate in ways that build each other up and benefit one another.

Thank you.

Hello, STPZ are currently for sale on ForkDelta if you prefer to buy via an exchange rather than directly using the CodeMailStamp Sale Contract.
All details are available here: https://codemail.tech/sale/

We are actively applying for additional exchange listings at the moment and will provide further info as soon as it is available.
Thanks for your interest.

How do you think, is it possible for your project to have the same problems in future?
Hi, Thanks for your questions.
Firstly, while we are fans of secure messaging apps like Telegram, there are some major differences.

Telegram is NOT secure, private, anonymous and decentralized.

Telegram is not private nor anonymous - it asks for access to the users address book, location, your IP is exposed and it stores message history on your device.
You mobile number is also used for authorization, which directly ties your account to your name, address, credit card, etc.

Telegram is not decentralized - user information and unencrypted data is stored centrally by the company. And the server-side code is not open source - meaning central and closed control of the product itself. You can also have your account blocked or access denied.

Lastly, Telegram does provide secure communication, but due to the fact that it is closed-source it is impossible to know how your private keys and accounts are handled. And therefore, you must entirely trust Telegram, the company and operators behind it with your security.

On the other hand,
CodeMail looks to address all these issues by using the blockchain.
  • CodeMail is open source and will be peer reviewed by the community.
  • No centralized control over network, servers or even code base.
  • Cannot block user accounts or deny access to anyone.
  • No user identification via mobile number, IP address, registration, account access, etc.
  • Private keys are only ever held by the user.
  • Data is only ever accessible by user via private key.

Finally, to address your question regarding the app ban by blocking it from the app store and google play, there are a few solutions to this.
One may be to download and install the CodeMail app from open-source repositories such as F-Droid. Or to just manually install the app package by directly downloading it from our site to your device.
A second solution will be to use the browser based CodeMail app, which will only require the browser app itself and not be dependent on installing a standalone app.

Thanks again for your interest.
Best Regards,
CodeMail Team

GDPR won't save us. While working in BigData and FinTech we continually see clients with petabytes of data, that have been blindly collected over many years, and stored across multiple clusters (often times insecurely). And they have absolutely no idea about the contents.

How do you remove PII and "forget someone" when you don't even know what data you have or where it resides? Enforcement will be light - most companies will be given a pass if they appear to have a plan and are trying their best despite their hopeless situation.

The real answer is Decentralization over Blockchain. CodeMail is small piece in this newly emerging landscape. We are creating a secure platform for communicating and sharing ideas free from censorship - where you own and control your data. Join us https://codemail.tech/sale/.

Hi, See this link for details: https://codemail.tech/#about

Right now there are 3 of us working on CodeMail and we are located in the US and Japan.
Once our Stamp Sale completes and we have sufficient development funds,
I will be able to move my development team off existing contracts and onto CodeMail full-time.

Thanks very much.

For me, now there are so many similar projects that I personally find it difficult to distinguish them other than the title…

Well, hopefully our title helps you easily distinguish our project from all the similar ones. If not, please help us out with a few distinguishable suggestions. Thanks.

I like that you made a very detailed roadmap, I think that in the project it is very important. It seems to me that this network is worth attention.
