I just got $250 in BTC for a bug bounty. What should I do with it? Hold, or invest elsewhere?
I already bought 8 ETH a few weeks ago.

In need of advice. Don't really know how to get into crypo, but I definitely want to. Could somebody point me in the right direction?

Edit: Also, can somebody enlighten me as to what /r/BTC and /r/Bitcoin disagree on? I've looked at both sides, but I honestly still don't know what both sides are.

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

/r/Bitcoin is bitcoin subreddit and /r/BTC is subreddit that doesn't support btc but they usually are against it and strong supporters of Bitcoin Cash, a fork that occured in the past. If you those 250 doesn't mean much to you and you want to invest/hold then do that.

Better ask specific questions for instace for investong do you eman invest elesewhere in othher assets or in other crypto currencies etc.

You should start entering the Bitcoin market with a small trading volume of no more than 1 Bitcoin at a current value of more than $ 7,000, even if you can start with only a fraction of Bitcoin. sell, move and store Bitcoins unlike traditional forms of online banking or investment. For example, if you send Bitcoin to the wrong "address", you can not simply call the bank and cancel the transaction. Therefore, it is important to familiarize yourself with the Bitcoin trading mechanism with a The amount is relatively small, before moving to larger trading volumes.

bitcoin is a very good investment. all cryptocurrency it is. but before making any investment, make sure to do some research. there are some people who take opportunity to take advantage of beginners. as well, better be ready to take some losses. investing is nit for the faint-hearted.

My advice for crypto beginner is you read some topics here in bitcointalk on how to get crypto for free you can also join some bounties to get some crypto. But you need to learn the basic about crypto. In joining crypto you have to have the patience in doing the buying and selling because if you do not have the patience it is not for you in doing crypto. Because when you buy the crypto in low value you have to wait for the value to rise up if you buy and sell it right away you will not earn big you might loose aome of your crypto.

Keep 50% in BTC and 50% in ETH, don't trade and move the coins to a hardware wallet like the ledger nano s.

As soon as you get more informed and research properly other projects/coins you can then buy other cryptos...

I think you already did a nice decision of hodling 8 ETH. For $250 I think is it fine keeping it as bitcoin. If you have some more capital you can try to invest on some promising ICO's but make do a deep research first about the project to prevent being scammed.

Spread your portfolio between btc and eth 50/50..might seem like little money now, but wait a few years Smiley Also, I would set aside 1 eth and invest in 1 ICO..if you do your research right and get lucky you can do 10-20x, which will be a good foundation for trading/investing going forward for you.

You are doing well if you have 8ETH. You can check through  coinmarketcap.com and research the first 200 altcoins , their total supply, quantitty in circulation and market cap. This will help you to pick coins that has prospect of growth in future. Coins with cheap price will give you much volume if you buy them though you may hold for some time before the price will appreciate. r/Bitcoin are anti bitcoin but pro bitcoin cash.

Off course for the first part anyone will say that you just hold it and there is no need to put that money elsewhere. The prices are already jumping to higher dimensions and im sure once we reach high enough you will double your money in no time. The alts are little more risker than the BTC thats why im saying just stay in the BTC only.

Buying ETH was best decisions and that too a few weeks ago means at lowest possible prices and you must be in profits by now. But just hold for more.

Keep Half the bitcoin you earned and hold them as long as you possibly can, there are high chances that BTC will continue to reagain value. you hav ETH already whicjh is a good choive, now you can look into other high growth potential coins such as NEO,WAVES AND DASH, you might also want to try out LTC.

Your 8 eth is worth a lot more than your holding in btc which is only $250. If you want to invest you could add a bit more to your bitcoin so that you have equal amounts of each to give you a more balanced investment.

To keep such an amount does not make sense

Since you have the money from bounty I will advice to either keep in your wallet or sell to use for Personal things in life. Reason why saying so is that no investment is guarantee to last longer again. I have my own experience I invested $1100 in program but hoping to get more percentage to pay back but at the end they run anyway with our money. So I concluded not to invest again. But am not discouraging you not to invest but be very careful on where to invest the money in. Do solid research about the platform and after some time like 4 to 5 months take your money back so that you will not later run at lost or complain. And then continue your bounty program to win more. Is very rewarding if only you follow sincere company..

I don't think $250 will be much helpful for you in real life but if you invest this amount right in the correct coin than you can make a nice return that would be useful for you. Also you bought 8 ETH which isn't a small amount and many people would die to just be able to own a single ETH. Investing is better as just keeping it in fiat wont do any good to you.

Don't listen to anyone's investment advice and do your own research. You don't want the success of your investment to be dependent on what strangers on the internet say.
Start by learning what Bitcoin actually is, once you've done that, you can start learning about other cryptocurrencies.

I know this probably isn't what you want to hear... You probably want someone to tell you how to invest an in which coin you should invest, but that's just a plain bad idea.

The Bitcoin Wikipedia page actually has some really good information about Bitcoin
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

Another great resource is the Bitcoin wiki:

Before you start in crypto, most especially in crypto-trading, you must have the knowledge and this forum will help you a lot, thru reading, you could get more learning and knowledge from this very helpful forum. Study the trade, pick some certain coins or tokens and study their trading history, volume and prices and their stability.
