what you are seeing is mainly the bitcoin rise effect which has first incresed the total market cap when bitcoin price went up then as the price became pretty stable altcoins began to rise and with that market cap went up. none of this  means a bull market.

I think we are already down the trend line and if we consider the ATH rates then this market cap is really nothing in front of that. If we need to see actual market recovery then let it be there in the prices each coin visible clearly to us. The market cap is just how much being bought and sold maths and its not really indicative of the whole scenario with 100% assurance. Regarding other facts like patience is the key and all, yes off course we do need that and before entering this market this should be the tag line at the door step if there was a door anywhere.

Sad to say I completely agree with your sentences but I am one of those idiots. I believed markets reached specific point that may keep pushing it even further without correction. But I was hit hard with reality.
It is too early to tell it a bull market.

There is no real news to support this rise and there is no significant rise.
All that happens is a correction followed by optimism in the performance of the market led to a rise in the price of Bitcoin and a large speculation in the price of altcoins.
As soon as the market miss this optimism you will notice a stabilization in the price of the bitcoin and a rebound in the price of altcoins.

Just because the market cap went up $50billion the last 7 days doesn't mean we have seen or will see a trend reversal. Market is still bearish!!
And as long we are not back above 12k-14k I see no reason to get excited. Sorry to be the party pooper, but that's how I see things when I look at the chart.
In terms of your holding statement I would like to make a slightly differentiation here.
Holding Bitcoin through those times is ok. Everyone a few years in the crypto space knows why holding Bitcoin for a long term makes sense. However holding altcoins is just crazy and irresponsible. They are good for trading and to make more BTC, but that's it. Every crypto og trader will admit when he is honest to you.
So holding one thing is not the same as holding other things!

Right. 70% losses and holding is a true warrior? What's that make those in profit, cowards? Not that I'm dissing holders, far from. But if you're in at 70% losses, then you bought at or near the ATH. Most likely makes you a speculator rather than a holder, jumping in for fear of missing out instead of getting in earlier or waiting for the dust to settle (and I doubt it's really settled yet).

Of course I'm happy. But I won't be surprised if we get another downturn, or several more. Was fully prepared to face an entire year of sluggishness - while market cap keeps upping thanks to supply rather than price.

It is true that there really are good signs since last week which has given most of the crypto lovers in this industry to have a strand of hope out of all the fud that is being spread all over the internet. Almost every crypto holder today are crossing their fingers hoping that this is an early sign or an indicator that the bullish season is now about to start or is already starting slowly. But the thing is, after all that has happened into this industry from the past years to this day, I myself can never be too sure anymore on what is gonna happen tomorrow, the next day, the day after that, next month or the next year. But as what you have said, the ones that have managed to hold and endure are the warriors in the market and they will only be the ones who will be able to reap the rewards of their patience and endurance. Hence, I too will not sell and keep on buying instead.

Yes the whole market rising is good. If you look at most altcoins they have bottomed and have been surging off that bottom strongly recently. Bitcoin as well. I expect a slow recovery taking most of the year, but it seems the recovery has started. As the weeks go by if the prices keep going up little by little people will gain confidence and realize its the best time to start buying in again as prices will never be this low again in a few months.

Marketcap doesn't decide anything. Marketcap is dependent upon the price of the cryptocurrencies. If they rise the overall marketcap will grow automatically. Right now the bull phase isn't confirmed. We might have 6 months of slow steady growth before it gets back to $20k. Once it starts getting back close to the all time high Bitcoin is gonna be in the media everywhere again and a new hype phase will begin. But until that next boom phase beings its a slow bull market for probably most of the rest of this year.

We've definitely sen BTC make some positive moves over the last few weeks.

But to me, I don't see this as a start of a bull market. There is simply not enough momentum, in my opinion, for this short term rally to completely reverse the overall market sentiment from bearish to bullish yet.

But the signs are here for this rally to last a bit longer, possibly until the end of the month before any sort of legitimate correction comes. Obviously, there is the tax day bullish indication. And now, the price has hit $8.5k which is a strong sign that BTC will test $9k soon, and if breached, will go on to test $10k. However, that's where I think the ceiling for price growth really is for this rally, around the $10k level. After that, we may fall again into the previous bear market. I do see a strong recovery in 2019-2020, where the real bull market will emerge.

Yeah, anything is possible. We have had hope before that ended up being dashed and then we saw the market back down inside the downtrend all of a sudden again. I understand these things are some of the things we will definitely keep seeing for a while until we get to see the market fully recover and we switch to an uptrend, but for now, I am personally keeping all my fingers crossed and hoping for better days ahead.

I am expecting we will get to see the market spring back in few months’ time anyway. Rise of marketcap may be a signal still its significance need to be fully analyzed. Over time, volume of most cryptos will be high hence any small rise in price also will compete previous peak marketcap. So, not an exact symptom for hoping on bullish market.

It is still too early to start thinking of a bullish market anyway as we will get to see how things turn out in a little while. I am optimistic in the long term, but in the short, we both know how volatile the market is and what we can always end up expecting.

Nevertheless, I believe this market is about to get set consolidating and if we get to see this happen, we may actually be in for a very sweet ride after that since we are outside the downtrend at least for now. I mean, downtrend may find its end at any time soon and bulls may take control of the entire crypto markets at any time.

Not every single growth in the price of bitcoin means that we are getting a bullish market and not every decrease in the price means that we are getting a bearish market, the price of bitcoin is recovering and that is a good thing but you should not get your hopes up, that another bull market is forming after the last one just ended a few months ago.

I think it's very important to keep that option in mind. With the crypto markets, it's very hard to pinpoint when exactly the markets might flip around. However, as of now, the general market has been showing pretty strong signs of a flip. Bitcoin has been increasing steadily and the market cap has been doing well recently as well. It seems as though the turn around might begin this month. It seems like it came a little late in comparison to the past few years, but I don't see how there can be a major halt in the current momentum of the markets.

Nobody should have bought at the all time high, because it was clear that the markets were overheated and a big correction was definitely due.

But yes, we're seeing quite a dramatic turn of events here. BTC first reached the $8k mark, and just yesterday reached $9k as well. Markets have been extremely bullish for over a week now. I think for that reason, a dump is probably going to come soon, probably around the $9.5-10k area.

We're seeing the same thing now compared to December, there are panic/FOMO buyers which means that when a small correction happens, they are likely to panic sell as well. That's why I expect the correction to be huge, so do prepare for that and don't buy up too much when markets are this bullish.

Always hard to predict what will ever happen but fundamentally, things are actually looking pretty good for the general market. I believe we will get to see the altcoin market make the move first before we will get to see bitcoin making any move. It is about time we started seeing some action in the market after the long period of market decline anyway. Marketcap is an attractive thing which induce most investors to come forward to invest with. Even marketcap is not doing anything with real time applications, many people still consider it as a big factor to compare markets to choose the best investment opportunity.
