I dont usually download, well much of anything. But I was curious, how do you protect yourself when using P2P networks like TPB and BitTorrent?

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

protect yourself from what? i use bittorrent and kickasstorrents for years. no issues.
i once downloaded 600gb in a month. comcast sent me a letter about excessive bandwidth usage but did not say a word about torrents or disconnection. just please stop sucking down so much bandwidth.

I use TPB and Bittorrent every so often, but not too much anymore. I tend to try and save up to buy software that I enjoy using.

Nah, assuming you're talking about protecting ourselves for the governments. Polls have shown that almost everybody torrents at some point, and obviously the government can't arrest the entire population of their country.  |

Polls have shown that almost everybody torrents at some point, and obviously the government can't arrest the entire population of their country. Government, viruses, spyware, anything. Is using a VPN or Tor common practice? |

i dont even use virus protection never have a problem and since im a heavy user that says alot. if you download from limewire or BS sites you get viruses. KICKASS is the largest provider i only download from them the site is very clean. pick a torrent with the most seeds people dont seed viruses. your not buying drugs no need to be james bond about it just click download and enjoy one of the very few things in life that is truly free.

Is using a VPN or Tor common practice? Government: - Use a fast, anonymous, P2P-friendly VPN. I'd recommend PIA. Viruses, spyware: - Don't be a retard. If you download an album and it contains a bunch of 10kb .mp3.exe files, don't run them. - Unless you require windows-only software, consider switching to Linux. You will instantly be immune to 99.999% of malware. |

I don't use the pirate bay, but when using BitTorrent its probably best to use a good VPN. Tor should not really be used to try and download torrents (clogging an anonymity network is bad karma), but its OK for downloading the .torrent files. You need Peerblock for P2P - even Bitcoin and Litecoin etc. (which is why I decided to post in this thread). Peerblock - http://www.peerblock.com/iblocklists - https://www.iblocklist.com/lists.phpMost of the bluetack lists unfortunately have not been updated in a long time and are outdated and somewhat inaccurate. The other I-Blocklists, TBG, CI Army and malc0de lists are updated currently. The best lists are subscription based. I'd recommend deleting the default Peerblock lists and blocking 'Primary Threats' , 'Hijacked' , 'Malicious' (CI Army) , 'malc0de' and the other I-Blocklists. Linux users can do the same with Peer Guardian (ex MoBlock). |

i am using Bittorrent all time, and i didnt have any promblems at all. Once i downloaded 300 Gb in 3 days and my internet porviders called me and asked: did someone hack you?! LOL |

mininova dead, isohunt closed, less people seeding stuff every day, despite improved internet connections over the globe. And the worst part - less and less people are archiving old good stuff. If you need some older movie/game/etc, like from 1990, then your chances are thinning every day.
