If you newer withdraw or deposit anything but BTC at MtGox, will you still have to go through the verification?

I'm just looking for a place where I can exchange a few coins back and forth to US dollars or some other fiat to try my luck at profiting from fluctuations.

Is there any official statement on this?

Do NOT deposit coins in MtGox.  Their rule (which you don't find out until after you try to withdraw) is that deposits and withdrawals are not allowed until an account is verified.  Without knowing this, I deposited some coins, and now I can't withdraw fiat currency or BTC until my account is verified.

It's utter bullshit. I too fell into the trap. Funny how they're willing to take your deposit no questions asked, but they won't give it back until you're verified. They probably make a nice bonus collecting abandoned accounts coins cause their owners didn't want to verify.

It doesn't matter if you are verified or not cause you will still find it hard to withdraw any money...

Thanks.

I think I better stay away from MtGox then.

Any other suggestions for a reliable BTC/USD exchange which does not require verification?
As said, just for selling/buying USD without ever withdrawing anything but BTC.

It says now all deposits require verification too.

I signed up almost 2 weeks ago, and sent verification docs in (before I knew just how bad things were there) and they still haven't got to verifying it. I'd be real annoyed if I had funds in there

The problem seems to stay the same after you verified, people have been waiting for months to withdraw fiat money to US bank...
