I have doubts about my neighbour. I can hear him sing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcMB9gwtqDM at night while looking at the stars. He might have a lot of bitcoins. Maybe.

satoshi's mined coin won't be spent, we can roughly say total supply is 20M.

what's the rationale behind this? please fill me in. i don't get it when people say that. maybe it's been stashed for a while, but that doesn't mean that it won't be spent by him.

he's the kind of guy who doesn't want to get caught, everybody is watching those blocks, if spent, his identity will be revealed in no time. He probably bought coins in 15,000 chunks on the early days and living on that instead.

a solvable problem: he could just split up his wallet and send his private key to a random person over the internet. as in he'll pay a bounty or transfer it to someone else for whatever reason. better yet, he might donate those coins for charities to circulate them instead of leaving them to rot. if i were satoshi, and i knew that people were closely watching my wallet/blocks, i'd just donate the money.

Actually, having some sort of an ongoing global lotto with somewhat better odds than typical ones might create enough interest in the world's populations that they would not necessarily want the solution to be attacked. Might help out with the GINI index problem to to a small degree.

What would happen to the market if the FBI dumped all those Bitcoins to the market in one go?

It would be a great way to use some of his soon-to-be vast wealth for the good of the world.

He could donate them to charity. Start up autonomous businesses.
