Suggestion/question: I'm thinking on how we can turn a block explored to an easy to use data upload and retrieval GUI. D5f9nsvC4qhMcXpAMxcfYDCyLcSyidWg4f TIA .

This is a suggestion for the long term, but when the data will be very large and shared between many users, there should be an option to keep only, say 1% of it on the local hard disk.

@Snail2 : I think it's possible, good idea! @Findus : we need to clarify that when developer is online, it will be very good, but I don't know if it could be implemented with current blockchain.
And yes, sent some coins to you!

Idea: a separate tree database that holds filenames of the data blocks, so it's searchable. user could submit filenames with a community down/up vote.

A Twitter like website that watches the blockchain for messages and displays them on the website.
You register a Datacoin address and prove you own it by submitting a micro transaction to the website address.
From that point on any transaction you submit will not only be stored on the blockchain, but also displayed on the website.
"why would people pay a micro transaction when they can just use twitter?" you might ask. Theres no guarantee that twitter will last forever.
The site would be funded by the micro transactions and advertising. Does anyone think this a good enough idea to start developing?

Hmm, interesting idea, but who will visit this site? Can you explain this? And yes, coins sent to you!

Hmm, interesting idea, but who will visit this site? Can you explain this? And yes, coins sent to you! Lets call it Twidder (dd for datacoin) the site would be for anyone who might use twitter today, but also for someone who wants more anonymity. The security that only they can submit Twidders, since it requires access to your datacoin address it uses the same security that your wallet has. Similarly to twitter, it can be used anywhere in the globe. and you can submit anything that can fit into 128Kb. edit: and unlike twitter it cannot be censored (twitter has been known to remove tweets that governments have asked of them).

Makes sense. The only thing confusing me is that some unwilling content could be displayed on such site. It is 'invisible' in blockchain, but can be visible on the site.

Blockchains will lead a storage problem for users after months. You can develop a server base lightweight client (for e.g an Electrum-fork). In addition for qt client, may be an embedded blockchain explorer and mining tabs.

Also makes sense, but what will developer say?

Sent coins to all in this thread so far! Keep those cool ideas coming! Feel free to leave more ideas for extra bonus or enter the contest for logo design that maxsolnc is running at: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=338986.msgLoving the twitter-style application. Sounds really perfect given the limited storage space for each transaction. I assume it would be readable directly in the blockchain as well as the website. Therefore I don't see the website as necessary though a nice option. Things like friends/follow list could be stored and managed locally by the client and the blockchain would contain only addresses and messages. Could be a "killer app"

Those who want advertisement should pay in DTC not only for sending their info to blockchain (fee), but also for showing this info on site. anyway, if pulse develops such app, I'll donate several hundreds DTC to him

For larger data files, rather than increasing the size limit per block, have some sort of protocol that would allow 128kb divisions of the file to be made and spread over the blockchain that way. Of course something would need to be done to clearly order and connect those blocks of data. One could for example make several 128kb RAR divisions, but something at least needs to be implemented to connect the blocks.

Not sure if it is possible to implement some kind of mini exchange feature into the client, like ripple gateway.
Adding some type of trusted distributed storage so that the client do not to hold full transaction log may be good too.
