Hey, been mining ETH for a couple of weeks now but after doing some research i found out my rates were really low. Now, i know bios modding is common enough for a mining setup, but i want to avoid that, i have bad experiences flashing things and now im just traumatized in a way, but i have read that tweaks can be done, either on the OS, getting some specific drivers and doing some minor adjustment to the clocks and voltages.

So far i have been running everything stock, and i get a sad rate of 16 mh/s on each card, temps are over 60...

OS is: Windows 7 x64

Hardware is :

Cards are Sapphire Radeon RX 580 4gb Pulse
Mobo is H81 PRO BTC R2.0

Im running the latest as today, drivers from AMD and like i said before, everything is pretty much stock.

Can anyone point me to some proper drivers and OC tool and some optimal numbers on memory clock and OC values. Any advice is welcomed.

Do remember that i want to avoid flashing bios... thank you all.

if you could'nt find it on win7, might say better use old drivers or use win 10 OS instead

You could try Gateless Gate Sharp miner. Apparently it can mod the memory timings on the fly, without having to mod them in the Bios. I have the same Sapphire Pulse 4GB card with Hynix memory and get ~30 MH/s with a 1200 MHz core clock, 2075 MHz memory overclock with the Claymore miner. The custom timings I used are from the PBE v1.7 'One Click Timing Patch' Bios mod.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1716584.0

On the first set of timings I copied this strap to the 1:1750 and 1:2000 Elpida timings

Code:
777000000000000022AA1C00315A5B36A0550F15B68C1506004082007C041420CA8980A9020004C01712262B612B3715

And on the second set I copied this strap to the 2:1500, 2:1625, 2:1750 and 2:2000 Hynix timings.

Code:
999000000000000022559D0010DE5B4480551312B74C450A00400600750414206A8900A00200312010112D34A42A3816

A guide to use to learn the basics of optimizing your cards to mine ETH is www.mining.help.

Yes the biggest boost will come by switching the graphics profile to "compute mode" instead of "graphics mode". Next install MSI afterburner and do some simple overclocking. You should be able to get 27 mh/s with the slightest of overclock.

As for overclocking others have already answered.

You are running Windows 7, none of amd adrenalin drivers or blockchain driver will work for w7.

For ethereum that is.

Only thing that works are Robin Hood.

Hi! i have 3 card of sapphire rx 580 pulse 4gb 113-4E353CU-O4B SK HYNIX. I currentley mining eth on ethOS with claymore 11.9. i get hashrate of 32.2 pr card with temprature around 55-57 celsius. I have bios moded the cards with 1 click bios mod, PolarisBiosEditor 1.6.7

But since u don't wanna bios mod u should apperantley get up to 28mh\s with that card on ethOS on claymore miner.

Other config in ethOS local.conf
dpm 3
cor 1276
mem 2220

power usage of 126 watts pr card.
The cards runs stable with this config for me.
Hope this can help u Grin

Whoa.. what a bump

already 4 months dude, OP might already got his Rig modded.. Lol

Nice card out there, I wonder how many hardware errors those cards are getting for that hash

and also with stales and effective hash at the pool

I will consider also power savings over hash on this bear market condition

For me it's run stable at this config. no hardware errors.
For me the powersavings are noot a problem, atm the kw\h price for electricity is 0.07$. but for me i have a maximum limit for eletricity at 84.12$ a month i need 2 pay, even if i use more or less in my flat. so i have the oportunity to have 3, 12 cards rigs running without upgrading the electrical system and fuses, atm is at 16A on 3 circuts i can use Grin

I use nanopool, have had 0 rejected shares.

I have never thought of that before to be honest. I should give that a try; It would be nice having an extra hash rate  instead of trying to overclock mobo.

Keep in mind though that if your card has not a Samsung memory, you cannot overclock it with MSI afterburner or any other tool. Especially Hynix is well known to not get a different hash rate after you overclock it with an overclocking utility. Both Rx 570 and Rx 580 suffer from this phenomena when they have Hynix as memory.

If it is Samsung, just overclock through MSI and it will show a better hash rate compared to the stock settings without the need to modify the bios, although modifying the bios shows much better results. If you use latest AMD driver enable compute mode, if you use Blockchain driver you are good to go.
