When trying to log in, coinbase was not sending the code needed to validate my sign in.  I had to install Authy on my smartphone and when finally able to sign it, I'm now locked out for 24 hours? which is a LONG time in the bitcoin market.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Hey, sorry that happened to you. However, I'm super glad Coinbase lets me use 2FA(Two factor authorization) and performs a lockout if I fail it. I'm curious, did they notify you by email of the lockout? I'd like to be notified if someone tried to break into my account.

If you not message from coinbase, you should select a call to your phone. Sometimes I do not get message.

If you think 24hrs is bad, try a week now for mine! Angry I don't enjoy having to vent about it, but this is getting ridiculous.

A few weeks back, I finally added a cell number for SMS via the Coinbase site. Unfortunately, now I can't use that number and Coinbase logged me out before I could change it. I couldn't use Authy to add it, since I don't even own a cellphone! I never will own one of the wretched things either. I joined Coinbase before they even had the stupid mandatory 2FA and was unpleasantly surprised by its forced addition. Every other place I have been, has an opt out for 2FA and I always opt out. So apparently, since I added the number via Coinbase, I can't change it now! Their only available option is to change it via Authy! ARG! Sad

I replied to my initial support ticket about the 2FA last Friday, sent a new request on Monday and even tried the public support on Thursday morning. Still no response from anyone. I am just completely locked out of my account and my BTC. This just makes me hate cellphones even more, lol.
