I am new to this forum but I understand what is token and its purpose.As far as I know, tokens are those given by ICO's right after the bounty campaign.Once the token is registered at market exchange,that's the time you can exchange the token into BTC or ETH whichever you like.Or to earn more you must hold it for at least a couple of months because normally, its value will double or even triple after 1 or 2 months time.

When we are here in bitcointalk forum , our purpose here is to invest in bitcoin, but without money , we can not start investing, but still we can by joining bounty projects initiated through bitcoinforum, if you are qualified to join ,you be able to earn tokens , which is to be use for initial invesent with cryptos , or sell your tokens according to price value

What is the purpose of token?

This is what most of the ICOs don't really have.

Some ICOs have a roadmap of their own but it's taking up too much time before their coin would be put in to better use other than trading. This is why I don't like ICOs because waiting is risky and it could lead up to nothing.

They should be cheap because when they hit the exchanges their prices goes lower than ico prices.

essentially to fund an application that later tokens can be sold with various currencies, up or down prices depending on whether the application is successful or not.

If you mean token = alternative cryptocurrency, then you can exchange it oneday to Ethereum, and ethereum is convertable to bitcoin, lol.

i think token or alternative coin is an alternate of other currencies. example i will make a project and its all about transportation. my token will be name ALX. this ALX can be alternate money that you can pay in your everyday transportation like Grab or other car. so that is the purpose of my token, theres a lot of token and in every token has its own purpose depending its ICO roadmap.

Lots of projects have tokens to spread the word and get people to know their project. The purpose of the token is to expand their program and get it more known, so people buy it or invest in it. In order to promote it all we simply need to do is join the variety of bounties they have or simply if they offer this you can buy them. If you are looking to earn some extra cash I do believe that bounties are the way to go if you have lots of spare time on your hands.

As far as I know, token always depends on other Blockchain. The widest platform which releases many tokens is Ethereum.
There several purposes of tokens, one of it is a utility token. The purpose of utility token is to power up and maybe unlock some features on the project itself.

You can get token by joining a campaign or just buy it and invest. The you use of token are base of what bussiness you invest. Some token are maid for gambling, playing online games, and money loan. That bussiness can you proceed if you have own a token like that.

tokens are alternative cryptocurrency, can be traded on the market like Eherdelta and Forkdelta. Exchanged with ethereum is better.

Tokens are given by the company, it is their payment for working for them. Tokens maybe used in games or you can convert it to their amount given when you are still working for them.

in my opinion the purpose of token is so variety. many of us thinking what token really is many of them are shitcoins but there are coins that really do a lot and its roadmap has been used. maybe we should read more about ICO projects so we  can understand what  really tokens are. i am so happy that i shared  my knowledge to this.

The continuous creations of token in everyday in every year is a time to realize that crypto is not dead. Meaning this world we face in bitcointalk is not stagnant it is active. Its just simply a representation or like a give to you by the ICO project. So if it represents them then obviously it can be traded. You can transfer it to bitcoin very easy as their are token/bitcoin pairing in any exchange as far as I know.

Actually having different tokens from different company are really has a purpose. Any company will do issue their token name because they wanted to be much popular and familiarizing in the market. The token serves them as a promotional strategy to  easily recognizing their projects. Definitely different tokens has a different value in the market. Mostly campaign are giving their free token thru airdrops but there is a fact that it could be hastle for us because we need to wait for the exchanger before we can convert it to the currency that they want.

Well it could be promotional material, but most of the time those tokens have real life value specially if the project is really solid because investors will flock and purchase their tokens.

Not always there are security tokens also which are only to be sold to legit investors. Purpose of token is to gather money through ICO.

That's why when you really wanna join some project to get some tokens,  you might be learn first all about it. You can't directly transferring your tokens to bitcoin,  you need to go to the exchance or to ethereum then to bitcoin. But also maybe it sometimes take time too long for those company to promote their tokens into the exchanges.
