Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

It does seem that we are in the middle of a massive boom right now, but will it crash or not? It is afterall gaining lots of media exposure and slowly becoming more mainstream.
My position is I bought 2btc a few weeks ago for around 600$, it was money I could afford to lose but didn't want to. I sold 1 earlier at 850 so I'm up on my original input plus $250 and I still have 1btc that I will leave as a wait and see.
If it does crash hugely I have money to buy more, if it doesn't I still have 1 bitcoin I got for free so I'm not too fussed. Curious as to how this will all pan out!

At some point in life you will be grey and old talking about that time you owned 2 whole BTC worth well over 6 digits and sold it for $850 Cheesy

True true!
I'm already getting grey hairs over the 200 bitcoins I bought for £3 ish and then sold a bit later because all people seemed to use them for was Silkroad!

I will be investing more in bitcoin, but just a small amount each month, don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. The litecoins I got a while back have doubled in value as well so i'm interested to see where that goes.

That bubble phases chart makes me nuts and I just figured out why.

In most bubbles I can think of the resources were not bounded.

  • Tulips: Just grow more
  • Housing: Just build more
  • Stock Market: Just issue more

Feel free to add to my list.   Does this make sense?
