I don't think you should call him scammer until he actually scammed someone.
You can call him suspicious  but you have no evidence ATM.

With my signature advertising I'm betting on him being earnest because I have nothing to lose and much to win.

Only time will tell.

Absolutely not. I'm helping in testing if this is scam or not.
There are no proofs atm.

Signature advertising is one important test.
In few days we will know.
