It was a big risk, literally no guarantee anything was gonna come of it and the NXT founder kinda vanished

Im pretty sure what happens is, the coins have IDS and NXT sort of randomly picks an ID that can mine the block every second, but if the owner of that coin isn't online, it picks the next in line.

Well, it's a coin thats focus isn't on mining. the mining nly gets transaction fees, which is hardly anything right now.
