Bitcoin Price in banner of bitcointalk

We love bitcoin right? I have a small suggestions..

Can we have a small banner in bitcointalk.org header giving a snapshot of Bitcoin market? It would be nice addition I guess.
When we are here talking about Bitcoin day and night keeping an eye on Bitcoin price will be helpful. No need to open other platforms just to see the current price.
It will bring Bitcoin little more closer.

For example:


Later we can add more:
- Current block reward
- Time Between Blocks
- Blocks Mined
- Bitcoins Mined

From technical side I'm sure it won't be difficult at all, a simple API integration will do the work.

I did try to search if this topic was already discussed, but could not find it.

I don't think that the price solely is the banner of bitcoin talk. This is a forum for people that are into crypto (bitcoin, alt-coins), blockchain tech,etc... And I'm pretty sure that those who are into bitcoin market as much, know what's going on atm.

Also, what you're asking for, is the thing you've got on every exchange website.

Well to me...  I would love to see if its get added.

Like we have this in the banner "News: Latest stable version of Bitcoin Core: 0.16.0"
We know its available on official site bitcoin.org, but still its handy

No I don't see the Bitcoin Market snapshot on any of the exchange. Unless you filter the exchange for Bitcoin trade individually.

Not gonna happen. Regardless of the equivalent value in any fiat furrency, the forum will always see 1BTC as 1BTC. bitcoinwisdom has all that info though.

That's one very valid point, I did not think of. BTC should not be valued in terms of fiat.

This platform is only for knowledge sharing,It is not the trading platform like BITFINEX,COINBASE ETC,So there is no need for the price banner.

That's a news banner that is updated when either a new version of Core comes out or there is a major security issue that we need to be made aware of. That provides a useful function and saves people having to check for updates frequently. The exchange rate changes constantly and there are many ways to constantly monitor it if anyone wants to. As a trader, I do that by always having tradingview.com open in a window and I can see the price on my taskbar. I think anyone that wants to monitor the price will already be doing that and adding it to the forum would just add clutter for people that don't care about it.

It could be a cool addition, but only for the appropriate boards. This could fit in Trading Discussion for example.
Other boards could have different headlines:
-Politics & Society could have a ticker saying "Flying Hellfish is now moderating this section. Low quality posts are no longer acceptable".
-Bitcoin Technical Support could say: "Only post technical questions about Bitcoin on this board".
I think crowd sourcing on the forum can quickly give all boards a good ticker.

I do not see anything wrong and to me it seems a good idea however I can see everyone has their own opinions and it's not of course the same. We can keep commenting on pages after pages on this topic but It really does not matter what we think, It matters what theymos and other admin thinks.

I think the opinion of the people that actually have to look at these  tickers for hours a day does hold some weight.

It'd be pretty embarrassing if they would just randomly implement a feature like this without weighing in any community input about it imo.

That said, -1. If i want to know the bitcoin price and trade volumes, i'll search them up myself. There's no need for a ticker next to my profile name that switches from 9001 to 9002 every 2 seconds. Seems like a good way to get a headache.

Yes/no, no, yes.
1- BTC/FIAT which one? $ the current and largely used one or €, £, ¥... It depends. Personally, I check tradeblock before connecting here. Prefer to not include this feature.
2- no need to say that low quality posts aren't welcome in P&S since it isn't allowed in the whole forum.
3- i like the suggestion for Bitcoin Technical Support but imo this should be obvious from the title.

Summary : yes for dedicated banner(s) for each board but it needs to be more useful tho.

This is a smart idea, I personally think it will be of great help to all the members of forum and especially for Bitcoin HODLERS as they have to open an exchange or coinmarketcap or similar websites only to know about BTC price. I have no concern with the rest of the people but I appreciate your suggestion.

Well then sweetheart the next thing I am expecting from you will be to put a suggestion to change the name of this from bitcointalk to cryptotalk because you have a f**king valid reason for it. lol

A very brilliant idea. With indicators such as bitcoin prices will help users in this forum to be able to monitor price movements without having to jump first to the website that provides these indicators. This will make users' time more efficient.
