Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

If you are using the Microfaucet script upgrading will be as simple as downloading the new version and set a new API key in the admin interface. (+ Registering on the new service.)
If you are using a custom script, all you will need is to change a few lines of code probably.

Can you tell us why you are closing microwallet.org? Why not selling script + domain?
I can't see any reason for this. You lose massive credibility with this move. Is it plain monetizing of the script?
