And that analysis takes in account its value only as an alternative payment network.

There has to be a selling spree sometime. There are too many skeptics in this world  Tongue I think at 2k, everyone will sell, and BTC would be ~500 maximum.

...each currency has its Great Depressions.  Lips sealed

This same thing has been said since dollar parity and some people sell, some just keep using it to buy and some hold.

I might sell one or two at the 98,500 figure, but not trade it for a currency that is losing value each year due to inflation. Smiley

It all depends on what you value BTC.  If you don't think its worth anything near $98,500 then you're going to sell it way before it gets there.

I think at $98,500 most people will wait until its worth $100k before they start selling.

Why is it so hard to believe that there are more people out there who are learning how awesome bitcoin is than there are bitcoin holders that suddenly lose faith in it?

There are 8 Billion people in the world, most of them without a milibit nor even a bank account to their names. There are FAR less than that who have any bitcoin at all, and only a Tiny fraction of that handful that have enough bitcoin to actually move the market if they got spooked.

This pessimism is silly. Volatility will continue to go up and down psuedo-normally until the day that bitcoin has eaten all of its' competition... On that day volatility won't even be noticeable anymore, and bitcoin can be actual Money to the world.

I have seen all sort of crazy future valuation predictions ever since I started collecting BTCs. Some of them:

1. 1 BTC = $ 1,000,000

2. 1 BTC = $ 98,500

3. 1 BTC = $ 700,000

4. 1 BTC = $ 40,000
