Been following bitcoin for several years, but I've only followed this forum peripherally.  I must say I'm shocked at the proliferation of alt coins.  I thought there were only a handful.  Seems like they number in the dozens at this point.  Hard for a noob to make sense of it really.  But it seems pretty clear to me that cryptocoins are here to stay and bitcoin is just the beginning.  I'm thinking that in 5 years the landscape will be very different.  Thoughts?

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

You are correct!

Bitcoin IS just the beginning! And the altcoins with the strongest, hardest working communities will rise to the top!  Smiley

I think it will similar to the search engines.  Eventually there will be only a few coins with strong liquidity with Bitcoins on top.
