Yeah. There's a few different ATMs, so some may only accept cards or whatnot, but there's definitely ones that accept fiat. Not sure about ones that dispense fiat.

The exchanges are just trying to comply with current anti money laundering laws.  When you open a bank account you have to do the same thing.  The only difference here is you cannot just give them your lic to make a copy on the copier.  You actually have to send it into someone you do not see.  It comes down to trust.  If you are uneasy with that, then you are right you will have limited access.

I agree. One of the easiest ways to get started is to setup a wallet and then buy some BTC from a friend and have him send it to you. If you don't know anyone, coinbase is a decent option but they require a lot of personal information and waiting period to get verified. Localbitcoins would be another alternative worth looking into.

I'm new to cryptocurrencies and I would love an easy way to buy some with my credit/debit card, with cash, with paypal or any other way I buy things online easily.. Unfortunately this is not the case especially for people who live in the US.. I was looking at BTC-e and it seems to me they've made it nearly impossible to deposit/withdraw money from/to the US...

A year ago, there were 0 ATMs.
Adoption and ease of use will keep growing but this is a process ... it will not happen overnight.
For now, you either need to provide the requested documents or stick to in person trading.

I too found it difficult to but bitcoins.  Handing money over and then trusting them to transfer was worrying.  There are a lot of factors that play into it.

Signing up for Coinbase is kinda of a pain, since they do require a lot of documentation and it takes about 5 days to initially attach it to your bank account then another 30 days to get to a point where it's all kinds of awesome.  Once you're all setup, you can buy up to 10 BTC instantly, like REALLY instantly, and it's fantastic.  When I was first starting out, and waiting for my Coinbase to confirm, I just used my friends account to buy BTC (deposited into his bank first, of course!), you might want to ask some of your close/IRL friends and see if any of them already have an account setup.

localbitcoins is a great alternative to this, if you don't want to wait that long or give out your personal information.  My experience with localbitcoins has been limited, but from my understanding, most/all exchanges are done using escrow (a middle man holds the funds until both parties have have confirmed the transaction) which can make the whole experience a lot safer.  Alternatively, you can use it to find people and meet up in person.  There is a few great write-ups about meeting in person, most of them caution you to use common sense… meet at a busy public location, stuff like that.

Lastly, there's always faucets for getting BTC.  They aren't fast, but they are free.

P.S.  DON'T GAMBLE WITH BITCOINS!  You'll regret it, I promise.

I'm Canadian and I wish there was a way for me to buy btc or mbtc without having to go to the bank. I sucks that I would have bought btc when they were cheap if it wasn't so complicated, for example I rmb going to coinbase about a year ago but they didn't sell to Canadians.

I found one site that sells btc via e-banking transfer but because those transactions can apparently be reversed you can only buy up to .04 btc at a time and there is a significant fee built into the price.

Several others have suggested LocalBitcoins.com and I would like to add my +1 to their suggestions.

I have made several BTC purchases from sellers via locabitcoins and each transaction has been completed in less than 2 minutes.

The slowest part was for me to type in my banking security details to my bank website to make the 'faster payment' transfer to the seller. The sellers always released the bitcoins to my localbitcoins account very quickly, within seconds. You can keep in contact with the seller as you proceed through the transaction via the chat window.

Each seller has an 'ebay' style feedback which is clearly visible along with the price that the BTC are being offered at.

For me, it couldn't be quicker or simpler to buy bitcoins using my bank account for funds at LocalBitcoins.com.

You could look for a seller on Local Bitcoins who will allow payment with something reversible like credit card funded PayPal for the added peace of mind. Start small and increase the size of your transactions as you build trust with your seller. Even if someone has 100+ positive feedback, it's possible their account may have been hacked, especially if things seem too good to be true (e.g. a price substantially below that on the exchanges). It never hurts to be safe using a reversible payment method and starting with smaller sized transactions until you gain confidence with your seller. Even if you can get your money back by using something reversible, I really don't think it is worth the risk to transact with someone having no or very low feedback.

The "Will bitcoin reach $1000 one day" thread on newbie talk that keeps reviving itself even though bitcoin already exceeded $1000.

Yep, thats one of them. There is also the PD signature campaign which has around 100 pages of useless posting.

The moderators don't deal with shitty repetitive posts - they only remove spam and fairly obvious off topic responses which have no merit whatsoever. I don't see it as a big deal, most people tend to post better and more informative opinions after they had time to learn until then they're destined to make posts we consider rather stupid.

If I want to buy some bitcoin I have to get verified first and link a bank account. It is @#%^ing ridiculous.
If I ever buy bitcoin it will have to be in-person with someone who has them. Selling is the same deal.

is not that bad buying bitcoin in this forum there is trust user and you can trade with them BTC just you can remeber use a trustable escrow also before you buy see the experiences of other users buying on this forum, you should be careful there is a lot of scamers as well.

There is reason why they have to ask for this, stolen CC, its to protect you and  more of them because they have no way to know if your CC is stolen or not.
