If you can buy a gift card an use it anonymously anywhere, denying bitcoin the same treatment can serve only one purpose -- to protect the financial system monopolies, namely the visa and mastercard networks.

There is a post here saying we will soon be able to buy at 7-11s.  Hope that is true.

I use VirWoX but it is very limited on how much you can buy and it is extremely annoying to lose money changing around currencies.

You could look for a seller on Local Bitcoins who will allow payment with something reversible like credit card funded PayPal for the added peace of mind. Start small and increase the size of your transactions as you build trust with your seller. Even if someone has 100+ positive feedback, it's possible their account may have been hacked, especially if things seem too good to be true (e.g. a price substantially below that on the exchanges). It never hurts to be safe using a reversible payment method and starting with smaller sized transactions until you gain confidence with your seller. Even if you can get your money back by using something reversible, I really don't think it is worth the risk to transact with someone having no or very low feedback.

If I want to buy some bitcoin I have to get verified first and link a bank account. It is @#%^ing ridiculous.
If I ever buy bitcoin it will have to be in-person with someone who has them. Selling is the same deal.

Will we ever be able to buy and sell bitcoin easily?

I understand your frustration, in many countries it is difficult to purchase Bitcoin, it just depends on where you live.
In Canada you can simply walk up to an ATM and buy some Bitcoin with cash.  In Australia you can walk into a bank and deposit directly into the exchanges bank account and have your Bitcoin in minutes.  As Bitcoin becomes more widespread you will find it easier to obtain.

Seems interesting, at any ATM or just few Bitcoin ATMs ?

This is just at a few select ATMs and only in the province of BC so far I believe.

Ya, if you live near each other. I am luck I know a guys two cities over so its fine for me but some people will have to travel pretty far to buy with cash.

Well if you live in the US it does not seem hard at all but in other parts of the world forget about it.

Localbitcoins.com -- choose that you want to buy in person.. it's a pretty decent setup:

1. you choose to buy in person from someone local.  you agree on price/exchange rate and a place to meet
2. localbitcoins.com gives you a secret code
3. person selling you bitcoins transfers bitcoins into localbitcoins.com custody.
4. that person then gets the same secret code you already have.  When they can tell you the secret code, you know that the bitcoins are being held by localbitcoins.com.
5. you meet in person.  You flash the cash.  Seller then releases bitcoins from his phone by confirming he has the cash to localbitcoins.com site.
6. then you're both good.

There are lots of online deals and cash deposits into random accounts etc..  That set up definitely DOES work (cashintocoins.com -- no "www"), but doing it with someone you don't know scares the crap out of me, as you are basically completely trusting them to release your bitcoin.

hope this helps.

There's one in downtown Toronto now, too.

Agree.

You can use localbitcoins if you don't want to do ID verification, or you want to do a cash trade near you. Smiley

If you buy asic, you can get the Bitcoin equivalent in about one year. But worse price than even localbitcoins.
