The reason behind they are top in the market due to smart contract is their base. I have found many places on reddit says like NEO getting error on making smart contracts project.
They are trying good competition for ethereum blockchain but NEO failed somewhere due to they are getting error bugs while testing it on testnet.

However, if you look at Neo on investment base, they are really good on that bro. Price potential also simply superb than next to ethereum.
