I'm curious about sharia loans. My understanding is that it is allowable for the lender to accept a share of the profits (as opposed to interest)? So if you are borrowing to buy a miner for example, the lender could receive a portion of the mined coins. Is that correct?

Yeah, this would be a joint venture and would be halal (lawful). This means that the lender shares the risk as well as the profit with the borrower... right now mining seems pretty risky, but what's your pitch? As far as I know, almost all mining operation are only profitable if bitcoin price goes up, which would edge into speculation territory, which is not lawful.

It wasn't a pitch, just asking a question about Islamic loans. I'm trying to understand is all. Thanks for response.

Okay, sorry, I just got a little bit jaded after my first taste of being a lender!
Glad that I could be of assistance, I'd be happy to talk about anything else if you have other questions!

------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE --------------------------------------------------------------------
Terms of loans are changing due to my experiences- Loan repayment is maximum 4 weeks, and maximum amount of loan is .5 BTC
I had not been giving loans due to a loan that was not repaid, but now am offering loans again.
Hi, I was wondering what ther conditions of a .5btc loan would be? I have 3 antminers running right now and was hoping to get a loan for a 4th unit.

For a loan of this size I guess I would need proof of income, your id, and a chat on skype. You would need to be able to show that you could pay it back within one month. Collateral of some kind would help.

I don't know if you'd be willing to take prior paystubs from my work since I just took off the last two weeks for spring break. And with the other 3 miners I'd be able to pay off the loan within a month easily.

I mainly wanted to get a loan to start building trust on here for future investments. But with my current setup I can have the loan paid back in about a week and a half, and with a fourth miner I can have the loan paid off within a week of my receiving the unit.

Please provide some info on your hashing power and daily income to show how three antminers can generate .5 btc in less than 2 weeks. If you can make enough to buy the 4th unit in less than two weeks, why do you need a loan?

If you can make enough to buy the 4th unit in less than two weeks, why do you need a loan? Well with 3 antminers running right now I am getting about .4btc a week, give or take, with my mining pool and one being overclocked. I really just wanted to start building trust on this page with lending and borrowing honestly, no real "need" of a loan. But Smooth was kind enough to finance my request with a secure collateral method. But I appreciate your consideration IBB
