I am not really following this, as there is alot of stuff being thrown around here. What markets are the for trading shares/stock on, Bitcoin denominated? I know of Havelock Investments, but what else is there out there that actually has some weight behind it?

<helo> funny that this proposal grows the maximum block size to 8GB, and is seen as a compromise
<helo> oh, you don't like a 20x increase? well how about 8192x increase?
<JackH> lmao

Well there are not that many, and as for weight...not much either. I know of three exchanges off the top of my head not including havelock:

cryptostocks
crypto-trade
mpoe

Hehe, a little off.

There's a smattering of wanna-be exchanges (some run by out and out scammers, some run by people with good intentions but who are so inept they end up scamming anyway whether they like it or not), and there's MPEx.

That's been the situation for quite a while, with various shufflings of that former group.

Here's some links you may find useful to the end of researching all of this.

Also check out #bitcoin-assets on IRC.

Looking at MPex, it could be the best of intentions ever, but nobody is going to take it serious looking like that. Dude skin that site up will you please?

There's lot of small exchanges willing to make you pay normal fees and there's an anormal website with no design, making pay 30 btc to be just investors and who consider thats rest of world is BS exept HIM/HER. I won't quote it, everyone know already...

You consider me as Scammer or consider me as Inept people? Go to run some business evaluated for few millions usd each (I don't talk about crypto currencies stuff) and come back to talk with me...Until, keep looking your favorite justice show at tv, the ones which make you thinking you are god of laws... I still waiting a reply like "can you speak english or another BS of you" so try to have some more idea this time...

I think you are the most pathetic people I seen in my life... really scary...

The funny part is that people like you have been saying this exact thing for about as long as you've been around. Back two years ago it was "child porn" and "gypsy scammer", by now I see you lot have scaled back to vague "really scary" bs. It's progress, I guess.

Meanwhile MPEx is still here, while GLBSE morphed into BTCT & Bitfunder which morphed into these two and as predicted will keep right on morphing. As explained other places, your choice is either the actual exchange or half your btc in half a year guaranteed.

So yes, I am calling you stupid, for failing to notice what works and what doesn't, and for failing to admit this, after two years of experiencing it right before your eyes, THREE TIMES already.  What you're doing is roughly equivalent to being given the choice of whether to be thrown out of a plane with a parachute or with a super cool BMX bike, you choose the bike. Because it's really cool and what is this oversized pair of bloomers they call a "parachute"? Clearly that's for fags! So you get badly mangled in the fall, all the while I point and laugh at how fucking stupid you are and point out basic stuff about gravity. Somehow you survive, end up in the plane again, get the choice again, choose the bike AGAIN. And then a third time. Because, again, and again, bikes are cool, and what are these oversized bloomers they call a "parachute"! Clearly for fags!

This makes you pretty much beyond help, if you've not caught on by the third time you're a lost cause. It does take a very very special kind of stupid to do that however, so rejoice, I guess: you're very very special.

To everyone else: Bitcoin is not a web thing. Stop judging it as if it were a website. Bitcoin is not a website. You're not whining that NYSE doesn't talk to you directly; why is that? Expecting a stock exchange to look like Stock Generation will get you more iterations of that scam.

Bitcoin is not about people, either. Imagining that what "most" muppets on this forum, or on any other social venue agree upon is important, noteworthy, or relevant is nonsense. Bitcoin is about the rich. Do what they do or don't exist.

Please anyone reading MPOE-PR remember that he is paid to advertise his shitty exchange to idiots willing to pay 30btc to get involved in such a horrible scheme. You can do what most here have done (as is evident with the yellow highlighted ignore button) and ignore this scam artist.

Most popular exchanges as of now are havelock, 796.com, cryptostocks, and cryptotrade.

MPOE, your site is cool and all.
But what guarantees us that you will keep the site up? Other than your "word"?

I don't see what makes your site unique other than it's been around longer.

Suggestion wait colored coins should have a beta soon (months) and people will start to move to ccs for distributed shares. Think bitcoin but for the stock market.

If you have to stick to 796, Havelock, Crypto-Trade and direct shares. By all means stay away from MPEX. That's $30,000 to trade that you will in all likely hood will never make back.

Truly nothing. I asked the same question: http://trilema.com/2013/it-working-and-you-being-competent/#comment-96306
The only thing you can trust, I guess, is that since he certainly doesn't need it to live, if he wanted to retire he could have done it already (in comparison to what happened with mcxNOW).

The discussion of how various unforeseen circumstances would be handled begins here, and in general the FAQ in its entirety is a required read for grasping MPEx and its specific utility.

By all means stay away from MPEX. That's $30,000 to trade that you will in all likely hood will never make back.

Keep focusing on the dollar value of the 30 BTC, which used to be 20 BTC, which used to be 0 BTC, which you missed out on precisely because of the attitude you're still sporting now; we've seen time and time again where this gets people. Being able to trade on the real exchange, like having a seat on the NYSE, is not something anyone ought to, or ever will be able to, buy with pocket change, unless they're lucky enough to make the right choices when the opportunity is there. This is never going away. It's not for everyone, naturally, which is for instance why some people use a broker.

NastyFans.org

if that was open source (or something you can license), I think many people would use it. It's a great trustless system, exactly what many groups are looking for.

People may object to having to remember a login for each security they own (since it is decentralized, everyone would run their own sites).
