Developper Langer_Hans has news about the switch to auxPoW: It is scheduled to happen at block 371337! Awesome number.
It should be around September 12.
I haven't been keeping up with Doge too often but does this impact the circulation of coins or is that a non-issue Anyways thanks for sharing lynn, much wow in the future! It would be a hard fork. So there would be a new mandatory 1.8 wallet. The new wallet is in beta testing at the moment. (only for enthusiasts and bug hunters) Thanks and does that mean that present dogecoins will be transferred over or a Hardfork as in a re-minting of all coins. Think I answered my own question but its dogecoins are the rewards for mining with the new script. Your wallet would probably remind you to update when the new 1.8 wallet becomes available officially. All your doges should be safe no matter where they are. (presumably if you have paper wallets or cold storage, you don't need to move them or do anything) There is not any change to the doge blockchain. The hard fork is for added security and would not change anything significant about the core properties of the coin itself. About mining as I understand it, you would be able to mine litecoin and dogecoin together and receive your reward in what you prefer. I think you would still be able to mine only dogecoin if you prefer but it would be more profitable to mine them together and get your reward as dogecoins.

Dogeparty is not a scam... why do you think it is?! You can see your burned coins on DDogepartyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxw1dfzr . After you burn your doges they would show up there. You can be sure that they are really burned because you can't generate a private key for that type of adress. To generate a private key for DDogepartyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxw1dfzr you would need a really powerful quantum computer and even then it would take few trillion years to do it. In theory nobody ever would be able to use the coins on DDogepartyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxw1dfzr. In practice maybe someday after 100 years someone could have a powerful enough quantum computer... but then every adress on any cryptocoin would be at risk. You can read more about Proof of Burn at: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Proof_of_burn

It'd be hilarious if it was a scam though.
I lost a bet that was 2^32... anything is possible!

Ouch, that would mean 1% of all dogecoins belongs to a scammer. Imagine the epic crash that would trigger! Thankfully, I doubt this is the case.

Although I doubt dogeparty will live up to the hype, there is nothing sketch about the burn process or address. The same thing was done with bitcoin and they are still intact and worth a hell of a lot more than the doge.

Yall are forgetting that XDP has a GREATER value than currency! So much more can be done with it! I don't see why the value of XDP wouldn't rise higher than that of Dogecoin as there are way fewer XDP and can ONLY be created during the initial and short burn period.

REALLY hope doge gets back up n running. I love the community and concept. The most significant is this IMHO: AuxPoW Starting with block 371,337 the Dogecoin network will accept AuxPoW blocks from miners of other chains.

I have a question.
The new Counterparty features for doge, are the doge coins burned as in permanently gone?
If so, how many doge per month are expected to be burned and how many new doge coins usually get minted per month?
I'm trying to figure out if this ever growing inflation and dilution of Doge will ever reverse course as it's always been doge's biggest setback.
Thank you!

No they are not gone. You can't destroy crypto currency. They are just on a address that would be very very very hard to generate on purpose. Like find any of your bitcoin addresses @ www.Directory.io or just try to find some BTC in general. My friends and I have found used wallets before!
