There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

any good news next week?

Well the 1.8 fork is going really well so far, with 43.5% of nodes updated within 4 days of the release, and ~two weeks to go. That gives us AuxPoW so we're not conflicting with Litecoin for Scrypt hashrate.

Oh, and proper integration with Twitch is nearly here (finally): http://dcmagnates.com/dogetipbot-coming-to-twitch-brings-dogecoin-tipping-55-million-viewers/

That's the AuxPoW I was referring to, it's set to enable at block 371,337. Our blocktimes are a little unpredictable (and that's one of the things merged will help with), but at the moment we're looking around September 12th, maybe a little earlier.

About the price increase, like Aragorn said in Return of the King: "There is always hope" Cheesy

Seriously though, the only thing certain is that now is a way better time to invest than when the price was 10x higher. If I recall correctly, Dogecoin's price has never went below 17 satoshis, at least not for a long time, and the last time it was at that price was when inflation was much higher.

On price; I tend to feel if I knew, I'd be typing this from a yacht rather than my spare bedroom. You need to be comfortable with your own analysis, depending on other's analysis is a good way to go mad.

I will say however that whenever the price jumps, there's a swarm of people who say "Why didn't I buy yesterday?", and I have to restrain myself from asking "Well, why didn't you?" It often feels that if everyone who wanted to Dogecoin stopped worrying and bought $10, we'd be out of this dip months ago.

Main risks are passed now; that either something subtle in the update caused widespread issues, or that we couldn't get enough updates before the fork occurs. With 44% of the active clients updated, and that number increasing daily, we should be around 60% at least by the time the fork occurs, which is certainly enough for it to stick. An alert message has gone out over the network to ensure people are aware they need to update, too, and we'll have articles on post-fork updating for everyone who misses the deadline.

Yes, it's going to cause continual downward price pressure unless inflation (aka block subsidy) is reduced.

? Not any more than when Dogecoin was mined by itself, but now with the added benefit of security.
