I'm a bit into the Doge meme and when DogeCoin was announced I had to check it out. Here's the main thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=361813.0

I don't know whether DogeCoin will become a real AltCoin. I think it's possible. It might be used as a currency for buying digital meme items at first.

I signed up for a pool and set up a worker on EC2 with a GPU instance and I seem to have earned some DOGE that hasn't been paid out yet. I'm curious when it will be paid out. Here's the thread on the pool: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=362153.0

I'm a web developer with a computer science degree. I haven't fully researched BitCoin but if I spent a substantial time learning about it, I might be able to understand it well enough to write a wallet.

How many of these come up per month? and how long does it normally take for a new coin to get noticed and traded?

What's the failure rate?

I found this website. http://coinmarketcap.com/  It seems there are a few and all of them are worth something.
