Howdy folks, it's good 'ol BPB here.

My account (BiPolarBob) seems to have been hacked.

Please do NOT send any BTC to it, no matter how zany the request.

There's a few of you on here that I've shared semi-personal info with.  Feel free to PM me to verify that I'm the real BPB.

And if you don't believe me, that's fine.  But be sure to deal with the BiPolarBob account with caution, regardless.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I'm just worried that the hacker will use the high trust of my account to "borrow" (steal) BTC.   I already contacted a moderator to downtrust the account.  I could care less about the reputation I bought earned.  I just want to make sure nobody gets scammed.

I tagged the account.  Drop me a PM or update this thread when you get your account back, eh?
I just want to make sure nobody gets scammed as a result of this hack.
I get that.  I don't know you personally, but I'm aware of your insanity issues (lol) and also your generosity with handing out bitcoin and repaying people's loans.  As I said, let me know when you get your account back, and I hope it doesn't take forever.

With the level of trust people give the BiPolarBob account and the fact that its password and email all got changed recently, which is a huge warning sign, it's probably best to give out a warning tag even if there isn't a signed message. Exercise the same caution dealing with that account as you would dealing with a newbie with no reputation.

@BPB, when was your account hacked/when did you find out it was hacked? Was the loan request (for 0.01 BTC) that you made back in january this year by yourself or by the hacker?

Hope you're all well, though. Haven't seen you around in a long while.

This doesn't sound like BiPolarBob either:
I expect the blizzard company to make new online.

I'm just glad the hacker was stupid and didn't do anything with the account (minus that one post). The BPB account could almost certainly get at least a loan of 0.2BTC, without a signed message or collateral.

The true BPB (myself) never keeps or recycles old wallets, so I cannot sign anything.  Then again, neither can the hacker.

I'm not trying to get the account back. I just want it neg-repped so it can't be used to scam anyone.

LoyceV: Thanks for all the effort in putting that list together

I won’t speculate if the OP is a troll or if BPB really was hacked. However the OP certainly talks a lot like BPB.

Haha. I know you don’t like to provide signed messages so it is difficult to agree that is a true statement. Perhaps you could broadcast a transaction from one of your known addresses.

Now that we know that BPB has been hacked, do you know how it got hacked in the first place Huh
Knowing that BPB are self-concious with his security I doubt he got Phissed, maybe a keylogger in his PC?

The hacker should be able to get way more than that, the real BPB asked 1 BTC Loan and paid it back in 2016, the hacker could request the same amount and have it granted in just a few days.

I count two posts, if BPB took out a loan then it was never paid back: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2825424.msg30253409#msg30253409

If BPB didn't take out a loan, then I'm still leaning towards it was hacked pre / on 26th January 2018 as the last post prior to that date was posted on the on: 28 November 2016, 09:20:31

I think that was still the real BPB. If there would be an unpaid loan since January, we would have seen a scam accusation by now.
And it doesn't makes sense for a scammer to disappear without posting an addy, right after someone offered to fund the loan.

We'll need a seclog history for that. It doesn't show any password change, which means the account was hacked more than a month ago. How long does the trust page show the "password was reset recently" warning?

IDK - all three threads of the Known Alts are littered with posts by those on the DT saying "How do we know that screen shot isn't a fake?" - while I'm certain the BPB UID has been hacked, it doesn't tell us what the end game is.

The screenshot isn't fake because there is no motive for it to be fake.
