I don’t know where have you deposited but where I have deposited fiat deposits are instant and they don’t charge any fees. I’ve used debit and credit cards and Moneybookers/Skrill.

You said it yourself, there were a lot of fees before and for people who still use fiat fees are still high. On a side bitcoin that had really high fees for transactions, there are a lot of alts with very cheap transactions. With crypto we have some kind of anonymity, like others already stated.
