avatars are presently disabled due to an exploit being found to be utilizing them. atleast that is what i was told when i asked this same question about an hour ago.

People need to stop posting these threads without reading others first. I am concerned as well, as I look like a total newbie with my avatar, but reading is really not that hard.

And I was just about to make a thread in this forum about problems with my avatar D. Glad I had a quick look first now. Is there an ETA on when they'll be back? Suppose it's not a massive deal, but it helps identify yours and others posts quickly and easily. |

There was a recent attack on this forum (not the previous man-in-the-middle attack but another one before it) that used avatars.they have been disabled until the admin solves the weaknesses in avatars.

The avatars are disabled because of a vulnerability in avatars allowed a hacker to abuse it. They are down from about a month ago. Adding a warning might be better since most users thinks it's an issue in his computer/connection.

Somebody mentioned putting a note on the avatar section in peoples profiles. I think a AVATARS ARE CURRENTLY DISABLED message would cut these threads down by about 99%. |
