I believe in Dogecoin for one simple reason:  Popularity always trumps all.  Just look at the Xbox360. Complete trash compared to PS3, but thanks to massive Microsoft popularity, it succeeded with lower hardware quality.

As best I can tell here is what Dogecoin has going for it:

Of the many useless altcoins this is the first one to not take itself seriously at all.  
Yes, it's a joke and this community has needed one for a long time.  
It's fun to have lots and lots of coins, even if it is just lots and lots of nothing.  And with 100 billion coins (vs 21 million BTC) there are going to be lots of people with lots of nothing.
It launched with some rudimentary infrastructure, it has lots of faucets and some gambling sites so everyone can get in on it and do something with it.
