Care to elaborate as to the context?

Buy a TREZOR! Premier BTC hardware wallet. If you're reading this, you should probably buy one if you don't already have one. You'll thank me later.

The officer pulled what looked like a pack of Gum or disposable lighter out of the dead girls sock after making a comment about keeping money in your sock. he held it up and said "Bitcoin" then asked his Robot sidekick to read how much was in it. This is suppowsed to be like 2088. I think he might have said something about it being untracable.

Why the "Totally untraceable" comment? What's the context for that?

whats intresting is ... early on in the episode .. it was mentioned by the female cop that "victim paid a fine of 5 grand" to stay alive... Ive not seen any other episodes of this show, therefore dont know if theres a standard currency designation... But, that "5grand" comment is really close to 4999btc ... as in , I wonder if this show is painting a picture of the future where "bitcoin" is very widespread.

Maybe by that point in time they got something like zerocoin fully integrated into the bitcoin blockchain =P

Maybe by that point in time they got something like zerocoin fully integrated into the bitcoin blockchain =P I 'm asking if the context is that bitcoin is used by criminals because of features like anonymity

The year is 2048. Evolving technologies can no longer be regulated. Dangerous advancements forever alter the criminal landscape. Police are not prepared. Law enforcement combats this corruption with a new line of defense. But not all are created equal. Pretty much if there's tech in the show, the cops are barely managing to fight the tech-using criminals/put it to good use themselves, and only one of the cops' droids is able to not get "killed" every episode. If you took everything literally, you'd think JJ Abrams and co want everyone to be impressed/scared shitless about technology (keeping in mind other shows like Revolution, Fringe, and Alias).

It is set in 2048. Only about 0.05 BTC reward per block by then Where is it written that fractional coins will be mined. I see people say this, but it is not my understanding of the plan for Bitcoin or how it is supposed to work.

I see people say this, but it is not my understanding of the plan for Bitcoin or how it is supposed to work. The network only works on satoshis (1E-8 or 0.00000001 BTC). The block reward began as 5,000,000,000 satoshis (50 BTC) and it will be halved every 210,000 blocks (~4 years) until it reaches 1 satoshi and then go it goes to zero. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Controlled_supplyThere is nothing special about a "whole Bitcoin" everything on the network is recorded in integers as satoshis.
