I think I've interested countless friends and family.

Not enough to get them to buy in though...

I told my uncle about Bitcoin didn't really pay any attention until I told him how much i have profited. Grin No one knows about Bitcoin here in NJ tho, and when i try to explain it to them they don't understand or get confused. I just tell them if your interested in making money then do your research and find out for yourself!

A lot of people in my area are interested in what they are, cause they are just unable to comprehend the technical aspect of it. I try to explain it to them from time to time, but most of them lack the understanding. Also some yell that I'm caught in some "Pyramid scheme"

This isn't surprising. It'll take a few more years for the mainstream to catch up. It's still oftentimes hard even for technical people to understand the exact application of cryptography in Bitcoin and understand why the system is very secure. It takes a lot of work even for programmers to fully comprehend BTC. A non-technical person who is exposed to Bitcoin for the first time would be more likely than not to think it's a scam.

We just have to prove it to them by developing an actual economy that people use.

So far just one, my brother. But he got into it pretty seriously, he turned his new gaming PC into a lite coin miner. Gamer for life now has to revalue what he does with his time.

I also live in an non-profit affordable housing coop and am applying for the bitcoin100 (which is how I found my way here)! I already got one house mate who said they would make donations in BTC if possible and would love to pay rent in it.

Most people i've talked to have been pretty open about it, and understand it.  Most people are pretty good and realize there is a need for it and that it really isn't a scam.

Though a few of the people who in our security department think it is 'a scam' solely for the fact that the only drive for BTC is for illegal and anonymous trade.

I think people need to be somewhat educated on the subject because at first it can be very very confusing Smiley

We just have to prove it to them by developing an actual economy that people use.

This is, in my opinion, about the most important thing we as a community should be working on. Nobody gives a shit really, and they think it's ridiculous not holding a tangible thing in their hand ..even if it can be a credit card, they'll get used to it. Tell them it's entirely digital, and they will resist. But show them the very reasons why and how crypto benefits every holder/consumer/merchant of the coin, they'll wish they had heard of it sooner.

We should be hitting up the business owners and  merchants, more so than mates than can only speculate on it. The market is inflated, and crashing now because it is built on too much speculation and not enough application.

Convinced 6 people to pool our $ and buy an ASIC super hasher.

Super hasher ? Sounds like it doesnt exist now and is preorder instead  Tongue

Yes, it's pre order with ETA of June....2015   Tongue
Seriously, we're starting off with one BlackArrow X-3 and reinvesting all profits into new hardware. 2TH/s should be OK for the next 6 months, after which it'll be an expensive and inefficient heater for the coming winter months.

My pitch is getting better. My whole family is holding bitcoin now and they tell all their friends. It was a shame I couldn't convince them when it was at $100.
