Bernankoin is the first coin based around sane economics principles. It is based on the publications of Nobel Prize Winning economists.

To put it in simple words for those of you who never attended College Economics Classes, Bitcoin is inherently flawed because of deflation and deflation is bad mkay.

See, when people "mine" coins, it means they need them. And yet, more people "mining" result in less coins! It's nonsense.

So with Bernankoin the Block Reward is actually determined by how much people want coins. It's also not "mining" anymore, which is a silly goldbug term, but printing, which is the way Ben Bernanke saved our economy. That innovative reward system is called Quantitative Easing.
That way, it also does away with any pre-"mining" concerns.

A bernankoin is a BEK, and the smallest unit is called a keynes.
We don't use "wallets" which are insecure and unreliable, but good old banks.

PRINTING STARTS NOW.

Client and solo printer available at:
https://bitbucket.org/pankkake/bernankoin
Please review commits for more details: https://bitbucket.org/pankkake/bernankoin/commits/all

Switch to v1.2 required before 2014-01-01.

Improvements since 1.0:
  • Printing enabled by default. To disable add -gen=0 to command line, or gen=0 to bernankoin.conf, or type setgenerate false in console. But Bernankoin aims to bring printing to everyone.
  • TIME based QE in addition to NEED based QE - should come into effect on 2014-01-01
  • Vocabulary fixes

Windows binaries:

Welfare:
I made a Bernankoin Printer (faucet). Cheesy
Check it out here: http://162.243.210.160/bernankoin/index.php

To print: go to debug console and type setgenerate true. Or with bernankoind, bernankoind setgenerate true.

And remember, honor the savior of our economy!

Coin history:
12/17/13 first block printed, start of QE1: 1934 BEK per block
12/17/13 few hours later, start of QE2: 13538 BEK per block
12/12/22 first welfare services appear

Good one OP! You had me going for a minute there; I actually thought you were serious. I'd say this qualifies as one of the best joke coins of the year.

Any pools out there?

Right now there are no pools I have seen.  This is a CPU printed coin, and even my slow old P4 was able to print some coins.  All you need to do is run the latest client and printing should be enabled by default.  Just let it run and you should start to see some BEK showing up.  We need more printers anyway lets hit QE3!

But we surely need to print more to stay afloat.

There are still 3 active auctions right now that i see, they have a little more than 4 hours to go.

www.ebay.com/itm/1-000-Bernankoins-Crypto-currency-similar-to-Bitcoin-Litecoin-Dogecoin-/201007375430?pt=US_World_Coins&hash=item2eccf92446

Right now looks like a BEK is valued at about $0.005.

But yes we need an exchange!  Keep printing!

Why use wine? You should be able to compile a faster native version.

You are correct. No need to use the binary windows version under wine.
The source-code is available! Check my brief tutorial on how to set up under Ubuntu.

Compiling @ Ubuntu
Code:
git clone https://bitbucket.org/pankkake/bernankoin.git
cd bernankoin/src/
make -f make.unix

Create bernankoin.conf
Code:
echo '
rpcuser=berinankoinrpc
rpcpassword=any
rpcport=1966
rpcallow=127.0.0.1
server=1
gen=1' > ./bernankoin/bernankoin.conf

Run and watch the progress
Code:
./bernankoind --daemon && watch './bernankoind getprintinginfo && ./bernankoind getinfo && ./bernankoind getbalance'
