I know many will not like this post as mostly old members are active here. In some cases, I see clear abuse of merit system by old members and no action is taken. If this is done by a new member, they are painted red in minutes. Why these double standards ?

See this:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=156379

Merit summary: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=156379

Any one can see that he is repetitively abusing the merit system.

Many other profiles involved:

Well you cant say no action is taken, there are so many threads about merit abusing and there higher ranked members and DT members are doing their best for stopping merit abusing.
You dont need to start a thread about this topic here.

Did you check the dates when those merits were sent (merit abuse took place) ?

You dont need to start a thread about this topic here.

Why do you think so ?

Yes, there is another thread:

No, there aren’t separate rules for old members. Have you tried to report them before complaining that no action is taken and that there are separate rules?

Move this to Reputation Board. There is no separate rules as you say and you don't need to start a separate topic for reporting merit abuse. You can report the merit abusers in this thread.

Some DT may not have seen this merit trading, that's the reason they didn't tag them with negative trust.

well members need to report the abusers and DT members will review the report.

you just simply report about the user and reply to the thread mentioned above. By doing this your report will be more effective because the thread is watching by higher ranked members, or even DT members.

No, OP. There isn't any separate rules for old members here. Don't feel bad or shortchanged on this. Everyone is perceived to be equal like the George Orwell's Animal Farm. It's just that an allegation such as you witnessed has to be proved beyond every reasonable doubt to be true before sanctions are melted out. Sometimes, this takes time that the mods or DT members can not afford to spare.

If there is one thing this forum doesn't have is the double standard. As for the merit abusing I don't know as I am not an investigator, mainly my focus is on the gambling section. However there are a lot of good investigators here who can help point out if there has really been merit abuse going on. They are the only ones who can shed light on your question. For one thing though rest assured, no double standards here.
User aTriz was one of the most trusted of the forum, yet after he did promote a scam ICO where one member lost a lot of money his trust now is -24 negative.

It very much looks like there are double standards as no action had been taken on those accounts even after this thread.

Even if I was tagging people for suspected merit abuse, this isn't even an obvious case.  All I see in this thread is a bunch of whiny bitches who probably got their alt accounts tagged by DT members at some point and are looking for examples of some imaginary double standard.  I don't even know who drwatson84 is, and I certainly wouldn't respect his rank if he was caught red-handed abusing the merit system or scamming--but the fact is that he could very well have agreed with those posts, as shitty as they were.

Not to mention that this thread is only about 3 days old, so you're expecting DT members to take immediate action on a merit abuse case that's flimsy at best?  Give me a break.  I don't see any of you whiners leaving any feedback.  That's the real double standard here.

Yes, there are double standards here, and it's important to let it very clear, but it's not about old or new members, it's about if you like or dislike someone. That is how things work, as anyone can give any feedback to another person for any reason. It would be very, very hypocritical to say the opposite.

What is the average duration for action taken in reported cases ?
