Should be max limit for altcoin topics. For example, 5 topics per altcoin.
I like this idea, just needs slight modification. 0 threads per altcoin. +1

I understand the alt coin hate, but really having most of the talk here will show the n00bs that BTC was the first and is the dominant (for now at least). People who end up at the Litecoin forum first think Bitcoin is shit and Litecoin will one day soon replace it, thus they invest in only LTC. Also free speech! It's not for free speech which can't be guaranteed here because this is a private forum not government. Your argument to allow them is correct. Any publicity is good for Bitcoin, right? They come here for (insert scrypt coin of choice here) but get converted to the one true coin. That can't be a bad thing. The list of new scrypt coins is kind of getting out of hand though: https://cryptocointalk.com/forum/178-scrypt-cryptocoins/

Theymos is our govt and he mostly supports free speech.

People who end up at the Litecoin forum first think Bitcoin is shit and Litecoin will one day soon replace it, thus they invest in only LTC. Also free speech! These are all just noobs hoping to get rich quick off their particular coin. 99% of these alt coins that pop up offer nothing new at all. I hold a some Litecoins and a handful of others, but I don't really see how any of them are better than BTC. They're all practically the same apart from a few minor tweaks. Bitcoin has the brand and merchants behind it, and Litecoin is lagging behind on that front.

Sunny King has done a pretty good job of making new coins with unique features.(Peercoin and Primecoin) Solidcoin was interesting as well, but that didn't turn out quite so great. Rucoin was one of the coolest coins I've had the pleasure of using, but it wasn't open source, had shady devs, and it had some really odd features like having to register for a built in chat thing. That combined with the fact that no one knew what they were doing, and it kind of disappeared. However, it was dual chain, so you could either mine the Scrypt or Sha chain and they worked together concurrently. I have no idea what happened to it, but because it wasn't open source there were no copies

You should all breathe a little guys, you seem tense. There isn't only the Bitcoin now, you should accept it. More, Dogecoin is a "cool" and "funny" introduction to crypto-currencies for all the average and common people (understand teens and young adults who aren't nerds). That could only be positive for the Bitcoin.
I agree with you, right up until you imply 4chan is where "teens and young adults who aren't nerds" hang out. Lemme tell you: dogecoin is being adopted 100% by weirdos. The weirdo tent has been expanded, and that's good. Unfortunately, we have not yet come close to penetrating the population of 30-somethings wearing wifebeaters, secretly begging God for death between sleep and work. Those are the kinds of normal folk we need to be reaching out to.

The beginning support for dogecoin came from a group of people on /g/ talking about mining the coins early, hyping it up, and then dumping over inflated coins on "memetards". I'm curious to see if they have already dumped and there was enough buy support to cover it up, or if it hasn't happened yet. Sadly, I thought it was a stupid idea and didn't get in, due to the nature of how past pump and dump coins have gone. If it gets past that, who knows what will happen.

I dont think this 100% true or the right explanation. DogeCoin was launched two by Non-4-Chan independent guys. And it was instant adopted and mined after bitcointalk-post. Diff raised pretty quickly. What ever these guys talked about on 4-chan maybe was their plan, but it doesnt matter today and it doenst affect the coin now. Today Doge suffers from Multipools until they finnally will release anti multi pool patch. Still the coin is since more 7 days straight the most profitable scrypt coin to mine. It has biggest community after Bitcoin, most users of all alts, more nodes and hash power then LiteCoin. It's an success.
