I have 280x and 7950 in crossfire now. Or without the bridge, tried with bridge before, but you catch my drift. What I'm wondering is, how can you hold your temperatures so low?
I'll post some pics of my computer. (I will fix all the cables tonight, this is just temporary to see how it works)  Tongue

Angry I'm only running an R9 270X and getting 400-445ksh on average. They were all out of the R9 280's when I was looking to get one. Does anyone have a link to a guide to tweak the settings. I'm running bare bones right now on xubuntu and would like to pimp it out as much as possible.
thanks

Best, try to craft / buy an open aluminum setup (similar to my photo on page 1).  Alternatively use the milk crate trick.  You want a minimum of a double card width between each card... to do this you will probably need PCI-e risers 1x-16x should work.  Depending on your MB and cards you may need cables that have a molex power connection.

after that, find a cool room (garage or basement will work if you don't have mice) and hook up a fan.

hope this helps.

Hello,
I'm new to altcoins and I want to mine some of them. Should I buy this AMD R9 280X? Is it still a good graphic card to mine scrypt altcoins?
Thanks

Thanks for the help Cheesy
I'm going to buy heatsinks whenever the store is open, I guess in 2 days. As you can see I've put a cap between the GPU's which have given the 280x a bit more air atleast. Going to get PCI-e risers and another 280x when I've sold some lottocoin then I will also buy a new PSU which I hope will support 3 PCI-e 12v connectors Smiley

I live in Sweden so that shouldn't be such a problem this time of the year, even if it's pretty warm outside (5-6C) Smiley

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://nl.anoncoinpool.net:5555 -u xxxxx -p xxxx --thread-concurrency 11200 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --gpu-fan 30-75,30-75 --temp-cutoff 90,90 --temp-overheat 85,85 --temp-target 72,72 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1080,1080 --gpu-powertune -20,-20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale --lookup-gap 2

Sapphire Dual X 280x R9

..with these settings i only got around 660 kh/s with my XFX R9 280X TDFD.

this works best for me (~740 kh/s):

Code:
cgminer --scrypt -o xxx -u xxx -p xxx -I 13 -w 256  -g 2 --gpu-engine 1050 --gpu-memclock 1500 --thread-concurrency 11200

i am running cgminer-3.7.2-x86_64 on xubuntu 13.10 with catalyst 13.101. does anyone get better results for the same card on linux?

cheers

Hi,

I´m getting stable 750KH/s with using "shaders 2048" and "thread-concurrency 0". Slight GPU over clock to 1088MHz and temp is 75c with 44% fan. Card is Asus R9 280X. Would like to get closer to 800KH/s but lets see is it possible Cheesy

Hi,

I setup my 2x Asus R9 280x (default clocks are 1070/1600) and I have have tried to adjust the cgminer settings today (--thread-concurrency, -g, --gpu-memclock and --gpu-engine). Numbers seems to be fine (GPU#0 743Kh/s and GPU#1 761 Kh/s), when compared to others results.

http://aijaa.com/img/b/00865/12942281.jpg

Cmd:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
"C:\cgminer\cgminer.exe" --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.dogehouse.org:3333 -u x -p x --thread-concurrency 11200 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --gpu-fan 30-80,30-80 --temp-cutoff 90,90 --temp-overheat 85,85 --temp-target 72,72 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1080,1100 --gpu-powertune -20,-20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale --lookup-gap 2

I am adding the two missing similar GPU's to the system as soon as I get the damn riser cables Smiley I am pretty happy with the results now Smiley

New to forums and 2 week old mining veteran of alt coins... hoping to get into scrypt ASIC when available...

Anyways, I've been able to get my R9 280x toxics upto 800 Kh/s (running 3 in a rig I built atm) for a total of 2400Kh/s with no errors.

from what I've been reading that's pretty good, its taken some tinkering to get em that high... I have 2 other XFX R9 280's but they don't play nice with the Sapphire Toxics so they are in their own rig... a bit flakey only around 740kh/s

I'll post configs and rig pics if people are interested.

-Flasheart

can you share your command line you run to get 800 kh/s

What takes the Toxics to 800 Kh/s? Low latency VRAM.

280x's are sweet but they've been very rare to find the last month and are priced over MSRP by about $100 right now. It is much more efficient right now to buy standard R9 270's (non-x versions) then overclock them.

I have 8x standard 270's going right now running at 425-440k each. Standard 270's also only take 1x PCIE 6pin power plug as well. Cost was 179.99 per card and all of them included BF4 key tokens which were able to be sold for about $25-30 each.

800 kh/s on a R9 280?

I'm getting 880 kh/s on a R9 290x.  Should I be getting more?

Mining is just a hobby for me - I don't have any rigs anymore.

Not bad.  I got a gigabyte 280x and do about 740.

Funny, because back in November XFX was one of the underdogs people didn't want.

Nice performance.  Post your config please.
