I started to mine just before the fork so the only coins I have are unconfirmed :+(
I just signed up to your forum. Do me a favour and don't start any giveaways while I'm sleeping.

Catpool.pw: 0 MH/s ( http://catcoins.biz/charts/ )

Gahh!.. The pool I liked to mine cat's in the past just closed Sad Sad
peep peep peeeeeeeeeep

What would be my chances to find a block solo mining with 0.5MH right now? Is it more than winning in the lottery? Smiley

I hope that pool reopens once cat has been fixed. :/

awesome, thanks so much for such a generous pledge! and congratulations to catcoinforum hitting well over 1K registered users mark! Wink

are you considering allocating some of these coins for useful bounties, or rather giveaways to increase the number of cats involved?

The people doing the code for the fork, I have 1 suggestion about how we could edit the code, Nothing to do with the difficulty swings as they already sound good for what you are doing, but about preventing ASICs from 51% this coin if/when they come, so I think we should increase the memory needed so they will be rendered useless up on arrival for this coin, the only downside would be then it would render CPU mining useless aswell as then the memory would be too much for the cache in the CPU, so that is just a suggestion.

Just my 2cents.

Increasing memory size, doesn't render ASICs useless, but more expensive (as ram is expensive) a Variable memory factor would even render the use of ASICs more difficult, but again, ASICs are not coming any time soon, the problem is as long as the altcoin market is not as incentivised to justify the R&D, Conceptualisation, Industrialisation, Fabrication, Assembly.... it will not happen the risk involeved is too big, right now the best ASICs attempts would be coming from small engineering companies/groups (that does only the engineering or outsources to some cheap Indian/Chinese company) and the industrialisation and fabrication is made in China/Taiwan (chips fabs ect), heck even the bitcoin asics companies does this as the real big guys aren't in the game yet

Spose they won't be here for a while, well good ones anyway, but gridseed and the fibonacci ones are meant to be here by may (the gridseed by the end of feb if you buy from hashra.com which has beta versions for ~£1600 for 3.6M/hash or 3M/hash and 80 G/hash SHA and that is in par with GPUs (price/performance) so they might be here sooner than you think Cheesy hope they will be a fail and not out do small time miners with gpus.

FYI everyone - your DEVs are finalizing the fork code right now.  They're also putting finishing touches on the wallets (you're gonna like these!).

And...we already have a pool running the new code.  Caturday's coming early this week. Wink

Stay tuned everyone...

Andy

ISSUE IS RESOLVED.

Here's what happened:

1. I ran the new catcoin-qt.exe (5 files installed). The first time I ran it I got the message above.
2. Ran it again and my balance was zero.
3. Copied my backed up wallet into the roaming directory and ran it again. I received the same error. It had backed up the restored wallet.dat in the roaming folder and had created a new wallet.dat.
4. Restored a backed up copy of catcoin-qt.exe including roaming folder and still received the same message. At this point I believed they were gone.
5. Decided to start again.
6. Wiped everything and downloaded a new copy of catcoin-qt.exe
7. Started the program to create the roaming folder again.
8. Stopped the program and copied in the backed up wallet.dat
9. Started the program and received the error again
10. In the roaming folder I noticed that it had backed up the wallet.dat to a new name but hadn't created a new wallet.dat, so I copied in the backed up wallet.dat again.
11. When I started it again, it came up showing my balance of CAT as unconfirmed.

They have now been confirmed.

Apologies if it caused a stir. I wasn't expecting anything to go wrong!

Which exchanges and pools have verified that they updated to the new wallet? I'll start bringing some hash back to CAT once coinium updates.

That's because no block has been found for several hours, due to high difficulty. A fix is coming after 8 more blocks (probably a couple days yet).

You should update to the new wallet.
