MERRY CHRISTMAS! ATOM is a peer to peer cryptocurrency alt-coin based on Quarkcoin, Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Feathercoin. The currency features the Quark proof of work algorithm, which consists of 6 different crypto hashing functions combined 9 times. ATOM is deflationary as opposed to inflationary, once the max money supply is reached no more coins will be created. ATOM is CPU minable and "resistant" to GPU and ASIC mining, although the Smelter GPU miner is now available that is reported to give 3-4x more efficiency. Many users like to use cloud mining on VPS's. Maximum Money Supply 100,000,000 coins Difficulty has 25% damping and 30% range limiter and is based on a moving average over 80 blocks. Block reward 1024 coins halves every 48840 blocks (~42 days) Coin website: http://www.atocoin.comTwitter: https://twitter.com/ATOM_CoinSource Code: https://github.com/moleculecoin/atomBinaries are available on BinTray: https://bintray.com/atom/Atom/AtomIMPORTANT: PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO INITIALIZE THE BLOCKCHAIN AS OUTLINED IN THE README1ST.TXT Linux: 32-bit: http://dl.bintray.com/atom/Atom/atom-0.9.4.3-linux-x86.tar.gz64-bit: http://dl.bintray.com/atom/Atom/atom-0.9.4.3-linux-x64.tar.gzExtract the archive. The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Dude how many coins are you going to create and abandon in less than 2 weeks?
And would anyone want to mine a CPU coin that is already being mined with GPU? The whole point of CPU coins is that there are resistant to GPUs...
And why do you premine any coin you create?

You abandoned molecule because your premine failed and created this for the sole purpose of having a premine.

If you read his website, he speaks a lot about his justification. Looks like He is going to use the premine to heavily market the coin. Mentioned he might be creating a public ledger explaining when/how all the premine coins get used. 2 Million worth of giveaways so far.
Edit: 3 Million, he is also honoring the molecule give away that got forked. 3 Million up for grabs in the first few hours. Edit Edit: 5 Million in give aways

Chill guys, the premine is going to be used for the coin's promotion. He isn't keeping any of it for himself. This is a good test to see how a pre-mined coin does if all of the funds are tracked by the community. Good luck on this one as well! I am already mining it!

no it isnt. It is alright to give money from his mining and not from his premining. so you will dev and publish a coin with no premine, and spend a lot of money ,Energy, time ect for it with no reward. exchange platform asks for coins, give away need coins, but no coin there. if you give away all your coins mined . so what did you get?

If you really believe in a coin you dont expect it to rise in 2 days because you are giving giveaways from your premine. You expect it to rise because it is a nice idea. Coins shouldnt be ponzis.

The bantering on this page is sad and funny at the same time.
Some of us consider cryptocurrency a serious subject that can make the world a better place.
There is room for humor in all things but carrying on like little children only dilutes the seriousness & importance of these forums.
Also a coin with a distribution model like this AND a large premine is not what I consider a strategy for any long term success.
I support cryptocurrency when it is done right.
While I do not say I have the 'right' to define what is done right or wrong I think a coins actual long term success or failure is the barometer which is determined by people like me in the community who consider cryptocurrency a serious subject.

Im using W8 x64. Didn't wait for syncronizing and started mining at first startup. Seems that there are some mined coins in purgatory.

Why you don't promote Moleculecoin and created this one? Why should we trust you? What if you change your mind and create something like NeutrinoCoin in few days? What was wrong with Moleculecoin?

This guy is so desparate to premine and scam that he needed to release his second coin in a week after someone fixed hislast scam coin. Ask yourself, do you really want a premined instamined coin like this to suceed? Does it help the image of altcoins?

Almost over 2,000 wallet downloads now. ATOM going strong and continues to build interest. There's a few campaigns starting shortly that will bring more widespread awareness to Atom. If you haven't grabbed a wallet yet, get yours: https://bintray.com/atom/Atom/Atom/0.9.4.3/generalI don't own a Mac, so I'm unable to do an OSX build myself. Let me take a look at the holiday sales circulars...maybe I'll grab one if there's any on sale.

There is no scam. ATOM is legit. The adolescents come out of the woodwork and troll whenever there is a coin that has the potential to be more successful than their own coins. Best to just ignore the FUD. Almost half a million coins have been paid out already. Download a wallet and get in on one of the giveaways! Would love to see some videos posted. Premine is bad because essentially the only released 90% of the coins. If the coin gets onto an exchange he can (and will) dump his coins and stop developing the coin. He will have made loads of money with no risk and little work, then he can start yet another coin.
If a coin is good it will succeed anyway. Premine just allows lots of give aways, advertising (the pump) then the inevitable dump. You are mining just to make him wealthier. Non-premined coins are run by people who want the project as a whole to succeed, not just pump it and dump it.

My wallet keeps crashing on my Windows 7 64Bit (German) machine. See screenshot for details. Provocative question: I assume that I am not the only one whose wallet keeps crashing. Does the fact that no updated/fixed version has been published mean, that this coin is dead/dying? Atom is very much NOT dead. Thank you very much. Giveaways are still ongoing, lots of new registrations on ATOCoin.com and we have a cool film produced by one of our users that you can check out on atocoin. We also picked up a nice bit of interest on Facebook. Atom will have less than half the total coins of Quark. Grab an ATOM wallet, check the 1st post in this thread for pools: Source Code: https://github.com/moleculecoin/atomBinaries are available on BinTray: https://bintray.com/atom/Atom/AtomGiveaways: http://www.atocoin.com/giveaways-contests/Be sure to follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ATOM_CoinH A P P Y N E W Y E A R ! ! !

I was considering adding this coin to add to my portfolio, but is the implication being made here that Atom was only created by this developer because they lost their premine on Molecule following the fork? Would appreciate some clarification on this...

Think you have understood it correctly.. I can't see why anyone would invest nor mine in Atom instead of Molecule This might also be the reason why MOL has been traded at 100k to 1BTC for a long time now, even without a proper exchange. Good coin!

Its been quiet, but some activity behind the scenes. I have been in contact with a lot of chinese and I supplied a bunch of coins to some Chinese for promotion over there. I've got a bunch of requests from them to work through and do a new wallet build. I figured I would give the coin some breathing room and let the incessant trolling and snipe attacks die down.
There has been consistent downloads of the wallet so there is still interest.
Things like games and services will come down to what the community wants to do and where they want to take it. I have had a ton of signups on the atom website, but no real participation it seems most are just lurking.
I need to work up a strategy to restart the engine on this and get it moving while ditching the trolls with the teenager act.

Atom DEVS: We are test installing a few wallets for testing before launch. Your wallet does not compile with absurd numbers of errors in Linux, and when we start the daemon, we get this error:
atomd: main.cpp:1174: unsigned int GetNextWorkRequired(const CBlockIndex*, const CBlockHeader*): Assertion `pindexFirst' failed.
Please advise. (Yes, we could debug, but we have other work to do. Your source should compile without issue on linux if you want to be on an exchange)

Hmm. Seems its a universal error, as I'm having the same on linux. AtomCoin - your coin has 8979 votes on allcrypt.com/beta/voting.php and is in 9th place out of ALL coins. But we cannot host your coin with a non-working wallet.

More fun.
ATOM does not play well with RPC calls.
We are setting up the backend for the exchange, and every coin we are testing works.
We cannot, regardless of what we do, connect to the atomd wallet via RPC. Every other wallet we have set works. atomd does not.
Anyone here have any idea why?

Merrykate: If your reply was to me, thats not what I'm asking. I used that hacky solution to get the wallet to install.
json RPC calls to the wallet do not work.
The server needs to communicate with the wallet to process deposits and withdrawals. The same jsonRPC calls that work with EVERY OTHER wallet we have installed do NOT work with the Atom wallet.
Without working RPC, we cannot list the coin.

Maybe it's because ATO‘s algorithm is quark, all other coins is scrypt, please try molecule coin, ATO and MOL have a same author and the same algorithm, if MOL has the same RPC problem, you can try to deal with the problem from the perspective of the algorithm. ATO has already been on some Chinese exchange platform, these's no reason having this problem. Lots of ATO fans wish allcrypt can list our coin, please do not give up ATO easily, thank you very much.

Doesn't matter what port we use. Default or configured. It doesn't work.
And RPC has nothing to do with the actual algorithm used to mine the coin.

MOL's ATO author is the same author. Two coins are traded in China trading platform through the RPC should not be a problem. Do not worry, we need time to consult the Chinese platform and technical personnel. ATO we love we love allcrypt., Please do not give up ATO

Ok, please stop with the quark algorithm crap. The algo used to mine/validate the coin has NOTHING to do with how the wallet speaks via RPC calls. The wallet is broken, it does not handle RPC calls correctly. Until that is fixed, it cant be on the exchange.

Both the daemon and the Qt wallet compile fine in my environment, repeatedly without any issues. There is a bug with the Qt wallet with the pindexfirst error, but this should not effect what you are doing. Can you describe in more detail exactly what your issue is with the json RPC interface? Are you getting an error message? Are you sure you built it correctly? With all due respect, if you are having this much trouble building Atom and your first reaction is to spout off without QA'ing your stuff, I don't know that I would trust your exchange. Do you have any professional development experience?

You keep posting about it's algorithim, which has NOTHING to do with the RPC interface. Yes I'm sure I built it correctly. It compiles. It downloads the blockchain. It sends and receives coins. The RPC does not work. I know the server's RPC works because it works with 27 other wallets. Atom is the one that doesnt work. The same RPC calls that work in all 27 other wallets does NOT work with atom. The wallet returns an error. I love how this has turned into my team not QA'ing OUR software. TWENTY SEVEN other wallets work. Atom does not. Yes, obviously our fault. Want the error? Here's the error. Fix your crappy wallet. Error connecting to wallet ATO while polling exception 'Exception' with message 'Incorrect response id (request id: 1, response id: )' in /[path removed]/jsonRPCClient:143 Stack trace: #0 /[path removed]/poller(14): jsonRPCClient->__call('getinfo', Array) #1 /[path removed]/poller(14): jsonRPCClient->getinfo() #2 {main} Your wallet did not respond to a simple getinfo call. All twenty seven other wallets do. I have a shitty attitute because from the beginning I described the error, and I was told to load the blockchain, or told that it has to do with the algorithm, and now told that it's MY code not being QA'ed and us having no development experience. From someone who does not even understand the error we are having. You have a wallet that has an error in it, that you never bothered to fix, that needs to have a blockchain file loaded to even get it to sync, yet you blame ME for another bug in your wallet. At the end of the day, we have an exchange to run with piles of coins that have working wallets. Fix the wallet, or, just don't be on the exchange. Simple as that.

Moleculecoin obviously doesn't care if the wallet is broken then. I'm more than happy to add it. It was lucky and was a top vote before we got a lot of attention and was added in the first batch.
But until our system can actually speak with the wallet - theres not a damn thing we can do.

I tested myself and Allcrypt is right - the JSON RPC interface is broken.
I tested sending getmininginfo and receive HTTP (500) Internal Server Error
Some commands work: getaccountaddress, listtransactions, getbalance
Most do not. getpeerinfo, getinfo, getmininginfo, gethashespersec, getgenerate, many more
These commands all work from the debug console in the Windows wallet - they do *NOT* work over a http connection to the wallet. They all return HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

Thanks Mortimer452 - I appreciate the bit of validation there. I had to deal with a lot of "You're compiling it wrong" in this thread. Like I said - it's not us, it's the wallet. For those who don't run an exchange: The database and background services MUST be able to talk to the wallets to monitor transaction activity, process deposits and withdrawals, and update accounting. The processes do this via RPC calls. If it CANT run the RPC calls, it can't be on the exchange. I'd love to have Atom on the exchange. But it's clear the developer does not care. Its been weeks now with no response. I'm sorry guys... if someone manages to fix it, we'd be happy to add it.

Guys, for the first few pages of this thread and the original one you were all posting gigantic red "scam" BS and running me off. Now you need help. Make up your minds. Either you want to run me off, or you think the coin is cool. I'm not the asshole, I gave away all of my coins (millions and millions), and dumped hundreds of dollars into facebook ads and other resources behind the scenes to try to make this coin a success.
I'm working on the coin now. I will look into the HTTP error and get this fixed up. I'm also going to clean up the wallet graphics a bit and make it a little nicer and add more checkpoints.

I just tested all of these using Python JSON-RPC from the python console, and they all work... s = ServiceProxy("http://user:password@127.0.0.1:8375") Ex: >>> print s.getwork() {'hash1': '00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000008000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010000', 'data': '00000070826d963478eddce2cc9d141744bd4afe8a333e9fcca274e13a7eff98000000002a97edbd29bfb75f504151558aa8483df241ed5a01a79d5a07d9d086b01d687053138eaa1c57d46a00000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000', 'midstate': 'd43fc1a357a642768ec5e53b159cf8a71c82cb78b0b8693b06ce507130f84d21', 'target': '000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000006ad45700000000'} >>> print s.getpeerinfo() [{'lastsend': 1393790565, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '85.214.146.56:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790565, 'syncnode': True, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 81946, 'bytessent': 2697, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136115, 'conntime': 1393790260}, {'lastsend': 1393790537, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '125.127.73.165:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790565, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 77759, 'bytessent': 414, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136115, 'conntime': 1393790261}, {'lastsend': 1393790352, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '114.98.4.243:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790565, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 76527, 'bytessent': 292, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136118, 'conntime': 1393790351}, {'lastsend': 1393790538, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '98.111.133.99:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790565, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 78429, 'bytessent': 1403, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136118, 'conntime': 1393790357}, {'lastsend': 1393790566, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '123.79.79.79:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790566, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 79494, 'bytessent': 4431, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136118, 'conntime': 1393790381}, {'lastsend': 1393790565, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '112.236.186.33:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790570, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 78383, 'bytessent': 3381, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136121, 'conntime': 1393790502}, {'lastsend': 1393790544, 'banscore': 0, 'addr': '113.120.130.10:12875', 'inbound': False, 'subver': '/FortMeade:0.9.4.3/', 'lastrecv': 1393790565, 'version': 70001, 'bytesrecv': 75264, 'bytessent': 231, 'services': '00000001', 'startingheight': 136122, 'conntime': 1393790543}] >>>

Also worked against atomd, Linux Mint 16. I pushed the updates for Atom v0.9.5.0 to git. https://github.com/moleculecoin/atomWon't get a chance to do the Windows build until a bit later.

You said you fixed a bug - I'm assuming the old blockchain I have is still good? I haven't made any updates to Molecule yet. For Atom, there should be no issue using the previously downloaded blockchain. There are a lot of checkpoints in there now, so if there were any issues you would get a sync error. If it ran for you without error, that means it successfully scanned and tested the blockchain.

No prob. I'll try to stay on top of the coin more, if that is what the community wants. It would be great to see the Atom users come together with ideas to build awareness of the coin.

Is there a possible issue with the blockchain?
We have a user who deposited some Atom to AllCrypt.com and he's saying he's showing 6 confirmations on his end - our version of the blockchain is showing 0.
I installed the windows wallet to check the TxID but it won't let me - as the transaction doesnt belong to that wallet.
Molecule - any idea why this would be? We restarted the wallet on the linux end to let it rescan and all went well. Still showing 0 confirmations.

Here's the issue: After a while, the wallet loses all connections and stops syncing. I've added all the nodes I've seen in this thread, and when starting the wallet, it works for a while, and eventually connections drop to 0 and it stops.
Stopping and restarting the wallet makes it go again... for about 20 minutes, then it loses all connections and dies again.
Why doesn't it keep trying?

I have had atom running for at least 48hrs with no issues. 24 nodes. I compiled from source on ubuntu. The pool i'm mining at ato.mine-pool.net has been up for 1463.866 hours? The only node in my conf is addnode=62.210.151.205 EDIT: I can email you my peers.dat?

The wallet won't start if port numbers clash and we remember all the ports in the conf anyway.
I'm using the new source posted here yesterday. Is that the one you're using?

I haven't experienced any issues like that. You could try running it with the -debug option and see if anything interesting is posted to the debug.log when you have the problem. My experience has generally always been very strong connectivity, stronger than other coins usually... I know there were a few hundred peers connected on one of the nodes when I checked yesterday (I have it upped over 125).

I will look into it. Thanks for the data.... It really should not be bombing out on checkpoints though........ hopefully it is something like a copy/paste issue.

Using the diff data in the git I rolled back the changes to checkpoints.cpp and it SEEMS to be syncing.
Nuked the blockchain and started over and I'm already past where I was frozen last time in just 5 mins of sync.

Whats hillarious is there was so much push and fight to get ATO on AllCrypt - and there were 3 ATO trades, three weeks ago.
Now we had to reboot everything to upgrade a UPS, and we have zero connections.
I'm not fighting this coin any longer.

I saw it currently with no buy orders maybe it's not quite popular at all. And as I oberseved most of the coins on allcrypt have 0 volume. I think you should try to promote your site to attract more users look at some successful exchange site. Other trading site have giveaways and chat box just to give you an idea.
