Yeah... these were supposed to be powered. Undecided

Moved to a new supplier and should be getting 100 powered ones with a 25cm cable length early next month.

The powered ones will likely be $20 shipped depending on how the market is when they arrive.  I don't want to price gouge on the forums but if they are still selling at $40 on eBay when I receive them then I probably won't go lower than $20.

The 1x to 1x unpowered risers will be considerably cheaper, likely under $10, because the cost is a fraction of the cost of the power risers.

Still have 10 of these unpowered available.  Will be receiving 300 1x to 1x unpowered and 100 1x to 16x powered in the next couple of weeks.

I have never heard one person post on here about their mining rig catching on fire...

Also, no matter what you rig build is, you can always use a couple of unpowered risers.  Powered risers are needed for 4+ GPUs, but you can still use unpowered risers for a couple of slots.

Hey and I'm sure you can use a drill bit to clean your ears but I would not recommend it.

Yeah because that is totally the same thing...  Roll Eyes

I do know what I'm talking about. I have over 14000 KH mining altcoins. I have been building LTC miners for over a year. I'm not the only one out here who has voiced their opinion on unpowered risers.. just do a search!

even if YOU don't recommend it why come in and thread crap?  People have problems with both powered and unpowered risers usually a PSU issue, but many also have success with both.  It IS possible to use them for extended periods without problems everything has its limitations.  If you had a choice yes maybe you go with powered, but for a card or 2 with a sufficient PSU pulling 75 watts through the mobo and an unpowered riser shouldn't be an issue.

I do know what I'm talking about. blah blah blah *measures dick* blah blah blah!

No, you don't, or you would know that unpowered risers are completely fine for almost all 2-3 GPU builds.  Not everyone is running 4+ GPU builds.  Some people have old mobos sitting around with a couple of PCIe slots that these will run completely safe on.

You don't have to recommend it, but you shouldn't shit on something if you don't know what you are talking about.

Unpowered risers are fine under the right circumstances. I am running about 18mh in altcoins all on unpowered risers, 5 cards per mb. Some mainboards have extra power connectors and some video cards don't draw that much via pci. In my case, the cards don't draw that much where I am worried about it. If they did then I would cut the appropriate wires and connect it to the custom harnesses I built for the server power supplies I am using.
