When I think of a capacitor I am thinking of something like this:  These have the molex power on them. My understanding is it takes two of the wires and powers it through the molex. Without the molex power, it uses power through the motherboard. This can be bad if you are using multiple risers per motherboard. From all of the posts that I have seen about it, no one has really had any problems with unpowered risers unless they are using 3 or more. That being said, the powered ones do not need the power to be plugged in for them to work, so they can serve as unpowered risers as well.
EDIT: This is incorrect. After testing these out they MUST be connected to the Molex or they will not work. [/b] I see no advantage to using nonpowered risers except to daisy chain for lengthier case builds. I also have 6pin PCIe extender cables for those using beasty PSUs to power a lot of cards where the cables could not reach. I have no idea how useful they would be, but I bought them anyways because they seemed like a good idea. lol |

Bump bump. Get your risers here cheaper than anywhere else on the forums and if you find a better deal, then I will beat them  Sure, you can go to some fancy website and pay $20 each, fill out some forms, feel good about it and get them in a week or so, or you can just post here or shoot me a PM and I will ship it out to you within 24 hours. |
