I'm sure that this has already been recommended but I'd like to give my +1, and that goes to American Psycho.

I've not read the book, but the movie is something of a cult classic.

I would also recommend The Room. If your local cinema ever happens to be screening the lamentable masterpiece by Tommy Wiseau then take a group of friends and never look back. One of my favourite movie experiences to date.

I even thought the fourth one was pretty decent as I was expecting it to be shit and crap all over the franchise.

Same here, though I don't really consider it as being part of the original trilogy since I don't feel like it fits as much. Jim's wedding was a logical conclusion for the series... At least for me.

I still went to see it in theaters and had a good time, though.

I've read the book twice but not seen the film once, but the book is a favourite of mine. I keep meaning to watch the film but never get round to it. Apparently it's not as debauched/explicit which is understandable.

One of my favourite parts from the book:

Quote
I ask for a gram, tell him Madison sent me. I pull my wallet out and hand over a fifty and two twenties. He asks the Eurotrash chick for her purse. She hands him a velvet bag by Anne Moore. Ricardo reaches in and hands me a tiny folded envelope. Before I leave, the Eurotrash girl tells me she likes my gazelleskin wallet. I tell her I would like to tit-fuck her and then maybe cut her arms off, but the music, George Michael singing “Faith,” is too loud and she can’t hear.

The Room is also probably the greatest shittest film of all time. What a colossal cinematic fuck-up.

I even thought the fourth one was pretty decent as I was expecting it to be shit and crap all over the franchise.

Same here, though I don't really consider it as being part of the original trilogy since I don't feel like it fits as much. Jim's wedding was a logical conclusion for the series... At least for me.

Ditto on all counts. I hope they make another. The characters will never get old to me.

I definitely enjoyed the book for American Psycho more than the film. Same goes for Less Than Zero, another of Bret Easton Ellis' novels turned into film. The latter is an amazing book, in my opinion. The Canyons did suck a lot, though.

The Room... Haha! I've introduced it to so many friends of mine that I've lost count...

I know that feel. My friends can't get their head around it - their usual response being:

"Why would I watch a terrible film?"

They don't understand, nobody does. They're all idiots...

Not read any of Ellis' other work or seen their adaptations.

Just finished watching Eurotrip.

I remember thinking it was hilarious when I was in my late teens... Surprisingly, a lot of it holds up!

Mi Scusi.

Bonjourno. Ah, mi scusi mi scusi.

Michelle Trachtenberg is such a hottie.
She definetely holds up  Cool

If you like teen comedies check out Harte Jungs, a german American Pie inspired movie, very good.

I can see how people just wouldn't understand why people liked it, but I love watching shit films anyway. There was a woman at the screening I saw who was getting a bit pissed off and annoyed at all the noise and commotion and kept asking perplexingly "why is everyone laughing it's not even funny" haha. Seeing it in the cinema is a completely different experience. It's surreal. I fully recommend it.

If you're looking for a decent teen movie but set in the 80s I recommend Take Me Home Tonight which Michelle is in.

It seems to me that you're the expert, Mark!

I would much rather pay the going rate to experience a cinema showing of The Room than most of the other trash that gets shown. The cinema even provides spoons as projectiles, collect enough of those and you can break even on your ticket. Winning!

Jeeze, once a month. A cinema near me used to show it once a year, but they apparently stopped it because of the rowdiness after somebody threw a football at the screen and it hasn't been shown since late 2011 haha. I'm hoping they'll show it again sometime because I want to take all my mates to see it.

Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square do monthly screenings of The Room.

I just checked their website and there are a few screenings next month where Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero are doing a 25 minute Q&A session beforehand. That would be pretty sweet.

Wiseau does his Q&As in the US as well. A friend of mine has a picture with him on his Facebook page... Apparently Wiseau is just this rich French guy who does whatever he wants and doesn't give much of a crap.

That said, I'd love to check out a screening one of these days! Maybe even if/when I move to London.

I haven't, but maybe I should!

Currently watching the fun-ish but forgettable Paycheck by John Woo, who used to be so good before he came to America... Except for Face/Off. That one's good.

Paycheck was enjoyable for what it was. Never really thought much of Face/Off, but Nicholas Cage is my favourite shit actor.

Yeah, and Cage's trifecta of action films in the mid 90s was pretty fun! Face/Off, The Rock and Con Air... I like all of them for different reasons.

Yeah, and Cage's trifecta of action films in the mid 90s was pretty fun! Face/Off, The Rock and Con Air... I like all of them for different reasons.

I liked Con Air and think it's a pretty decent flick, but The Rock was so-so. The Weatherman is my favourite Cage film, but I haven't seen much of his earlier work or his Oscar Winning (lol) performance.
