I have too see 12 years a slave, looks like a good movie. As for Hobbit I slept through the first part, can't make myslelf watch the second one. The Bilbo's house party, which in the book is just a few pages, takes forever to watch in the movie. He made it soo boring there's not even a shadow of LOTR epicness left in this movie.

Hobbit and fantasy movies like that are not my cup of tea. 12 Years a Slave was good...some of it is hard to watch.   It was far and away the heavy favorite for Best Picture.   I disagree, but it is definitely a powerful movie...  too much politics in movie awards..

I don't like 12 Years a slave because the protagonist is so helpless...he has NO POWER to do anything about his situation. He just gets lucky and finds a white man that isn't a blatant racist. It's a good movie but hard to watch cause of that....

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Well if it's a good movie it doesn't matter really.
There are lots of movies that are only 90-something minutes and are wasted time, for instance A Good Day to Die Hard  Sad

Most Bruce Willis movies stink nowadays...I don't know what was the last good movie that he did...

Probably the two he did with M Knight Shamalamadingdong.

Resident Evil

I thought it, along with most of Paul WS Anderson's other movies, sucked ass. Which is really too bad because it could've had a lot of potential!

I thought the first Resident Evil was enjoyable, but the others were pretty crap, and the last one was WTF is actually happening here bad. There's a final one coming out soon I think.

Behind enemy lines - "old" (from the 90s I believe) but very good movie. It's about a jet pilot getting shot down over enemy terrotory, now he is being chased by very many angry military men because they took pictures of something that the jankies werent allowed to see. Crappy description from me, but it's a good movie!

Turn off the news and read. Watch Psywar, learn something important about our society and PR, why and how it got started and how it brainwashes you.

Resident Evil

I only liked the original (first one) Resident Evil. The sequels were only dumb attempts to get your money out of your pockets, geeeeez.

Still find Shawshank Redemption as one of the best movies I have ever watched. (#1 on IMDB).

Others:
- American History X was pretty good
- Green Zone jumps into my head, although I don't remember it well
- Avatar at the time wasn't bad (controversial though on that opinion)
- The Social Network (honestly and mostly just for the half-decent tech references)
- and others I cannot think of right now.

Just got back from seeing Non-Stop. It's enjoyable but a fair bit predictable.

I'd wait for a rental.

I saw that last night, but I disagree with the predictability (at least for me).

I don't want to spoil but Movies usually are extremely easy to predict but Non-Stop had me guessing the whole movie.

Is it similar to Flightplan or Redeye? I enjoy a lot of those trapped in one place movies, but they don't really hold up on repeat viewings as the suspense is gone after the twists have been revealed.

I'd say better. The suspense never really left IMO and only a few twists really got revealed. A lot of twists were revealed more to the end of the movie in a "mindblown" sort-of-way. IMO atleast.

Isn't that how most twists are revealed? haha. But I do like those "mindblowing" ones that really add something else to the film.

Point taken, but this one was different in a way. I don't want to go into too much detail to prevent myself from spoiling the movie.

However, the "mindblowing" ones were the "chill up your spine" ones. The movie was so different every 20-30 minutes; leaving the audiences minds to jump back and forth on suspicions. Leaving the theatre all you could hear were invalid and wrong suspicions because maybe 10% (made up statistic of what I heard) of the people actually guessed it.

Like I said, this one (atleast for me) was not easy to guess because there was such so much theory and not many clues provided.

Yeah, I like those ones, especially when you never see 'em coming. I wish I hadn't've seen it has a twist now though because when I watch it I'll be looking for it and trying to analyse the film too much haha.

You pretty much can tell there is going to be a twist just by the plot of the movie. I'll say no more Tongue

All I know of the plot is Neeson is an air marshal and some shit goes down on a plane.

Then you basically know nothing about the movie as of now Tongue

Just got back from seeing Non-Stop. It's enjoyable but a fair bit predictable.

I'd wait for a rental.

I think Liam Neeson movies have been struggling lately...  that one where he is in the snow with the wolves was decent.   I don't remember what it is called.   I think that is the last Liam Neeson one that I liked.   Taken part 1 and part 2 were both bad too IMO
