I would suggest you to invest in cloudmining. Instead of you mining from you pc GPU or CPU.
You invest X amount of money in a cloudmining service that will mine coins for you
in exchange of a fee on your earning or you can build a mining rig.

What's the best way to get into mining if my computer isn't that great?
I suggest you explain what your computer specs are like this:

Code:
Motherboard: ?
Processor: ?
RAM: ?
Storage: ?

so, we can advise what to do next to into about mining

Find a CPU coin that's just starting out, or a GPU coin that's just starting out. Weaker hardware means you'll have to be clever about picking a coin with a lower difficulty, or in the right place at the right time when a new coin launches.

I have a thread about mining with an average CPU. It has all you need to know to start mining. Check it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2891680.0

Scour eBay and Craisglist for a smaller (like 4 GPUs or less), used GPU rig. Try it out.

What's the best way to get into mining if my computer isn't that great?

you can use cloud mining and earn from there.
if you have earned money from there, you can upgrade your cloud or buying additional mining to earn more money.

Invest in new coin is a good idea if you are the kind of person to promote in what you believe in to help it grow.

One thing I absolutely must say here- cloudmining is a horrible idea and you're throwing your money away by "investing" (more like gambling) it in cloudmining. There's absolutely no reason anyone would offer cloudmining at all if they can just mine on their own and make more (in fact, cloudmining is just a way to offset risk from the hash provider onto you), and if you're looking for a more passive style of investment, lending to exchanges or users here is a much lower risk option.

Cloudmining really isn't even mining at all in the end and shouldn't be discussed in this section, but rather in the Service Discussion or Service Announcement section. If you plan on mining, you either mine at home or get hosted miners or you don't mine. It's simple.

Quote from: Nestade
Cloudmining doesn't make sense and most likely you'll pay more than you earn.
Building a mining rig would make more sense if you get the hardware for cheap (don't forget to do some calculations about profitability and don't forget electricity; one advantage of a mining rig is that you can resell your hardware which is hard for ASICs)
What's a cheap mining rig price for you?

some differences between cloud mining and the hardware itself (GPU or ASIC):
■ Cloud mining doesn't guarantee your coins safe.
■ Have hardware (GPU or ASIC), you can manage your assets like hash rate, pools switching, and coins switching whenever you want.
but right now, is not the right time to build a mining rig
