I have an associate with twelve of these GPUs due to his university course ... the price per unit is astronomical (3K£-4K£)

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiaquadroseries/nvidiaquadroseries/vcqk6000-pb.html
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/amdfireproseries/amdfirepro/100-505632.html

Can these bad boys mine?

I've not much looked into the mining capabilities of bespoke GPUs like this until he pointed this out to me today ...

Sure they could but you would need to go through the meticulous efforts of tuning them properly to get a balance of not overpowered but a good hashrate plus you're only mining scrypt with those at this point - I'd point them in the direction of MEC or GLX or QRK.

I would think they could mine LTC pretty well. .

www.wemineltc.com

is a good site.  I run 3 pc's with a total of 1700kh/s  uses a grand total of 700 watts  I earn about 13-16 ltc a month.

that is  about 280-330 usd  I spend 75 usd on power  so I net about 205-255 usd a month.   I use guiminer with catalyst 13.12

These cards won;t get much khash more then a 7970 gpu, these cards are driver optimized for cad software there is hardly a difference in the hardware. You are paying for software support to have everything already optimized and ready to go.

Useless and very expensive for mining bitcoin. Unless you mean mining an scrypt coin, in which case you're on the wrong forum.

Developer/maintainer for cgminer, ckpool/ckproxy, and the -ck kernel
2% Fee Solo mining at solo.ckpool.org
