Difficulty is adjusted 2 times a day.
That's what I like about it.
If difficulty gets to high and people stop mining, within hours there is a chance to step in again.

yeah.. i didnt realize it, but the fast difficulty adjustments might be the most useful change of all the coins. It is also probably why solidcoins are still doing well and probably why it caught up with namecoin in prices.

See the other coins quickly reached a point where mining them was NOT more profitable than BTC or at least not enough to take the chance. This causes people to leave and yet the difficulty stays high. The the time diff drops, no one cares that much for the coin anymore. With solids, you just wait a couple hours and suddenly it is worth mining again.
